I made an online reservation for my boyfriend and I the night before going and had the option to choose what kind of kimono we wanted upon arriving in the shop. I chose the couple plan which included a kimono for both of us, as well as shoes and accessories. The hairstyle is included in every set but you can pay an extra 700 yens if you want to choose one that’s different from the free selection. I had to pay a deposit of 3000 yens to make the reservation that was then deducted from the final price, which ended being around 10 000 yens. We got there at around 11 o’clock, it took us an hour to both get ready and the kimonos had to be returned by half past 5 at the very latest, though you can pay an extra fee to bring them back the next day.
The staff didn’t speak English but if you speak a little Japanese you should be able to communicate ! I really only knew the basics but it still worked out 😌 The ladies that dressed us were simply adorable, they were so kind and helpful and did their best to communicate ! I ended up giggling with them and sharing pictures of our day at the end, which made me feel so happy ☺️ If you get there early there’s more choice and more time to spend in the kimono so get there as soon as you can ! It was easy to find and not far from the Main Street. As to wearing the kimono, it is pretty tight around the waist which is something to take into account, it feels almost like a corset, though not quite as restrictive. I was able to eat and bend down, but keep in mind you won’t be completely free of your movements ! You also wear « sandals » that mean you can’t walk very fast but I saw some people wear their own shoes if necessary 😄
All in all I didn’t really know what to expect but it was an absolutely wonderful experience, it felt magical to walk around in such beautiful clothes, we even got quite a few compliments from other...
Read moreI compared different kimono rental stores' photos and liked Asakusa most before I booked the appointment with them. It turns out that the staff here have pretty good taste including the clothing, hair and makeup. When I was wearing the kimono walking along the streets by the sensoji temple, I felt their clothing really stands out. And some tourists kept asking me to take photos with them. That's how impressive they are. I highly recommend Asakusa if you like to have a great experience touring sensoji as well as valuable...
Read moreI loved this place and the people. Due to the nice weather on that day, I went there early in the morning spontaneously without a booking. I waited a bit, watched the other get dressed up, made friends :) and got the chance to choose my kimono and have my hair done. They also made it to organize a photographer. So I can’t wait to see the pictures. Thanks...
