This establishment may exude an ostensibly inviting ambience; however, our experience was profoundly disconcerting. Our family was presented with a bill amounting to ¥160,000. Upon departing the premises and scrutinizing the details, we discovered that we had been charged for an entirely different set of dishes—merely similar in appearance to those we had actually ordered. As a result, we had overpaid by approximately ¥90,000.
When we immediately raised this matter, a female staff member responded with a perfunctory “Sorry,” delivered with a laugh, as though the gravity of the situation were inconsequential. She further asserted that the payment reversal would be processed on the spot, yet the refund would require two weeks to materialize. By that time, we will no longer be in Japan. Should the reimbursement fail to occur, we will have effectively paid nearly double the rightful amount.
The demeanor of the aforementioned staff member conveyed the impression that every matter—regardless of seriousness—could be trivialized into jest, even when confronted with a visibly aggrieved customer.
Asakusa abounds with reputable tempura establishments. Over the course of our 20-day stay in Japan, this was unequivocally the most deplorable dining experience we encountered. Why, then, would one choose to dine here? We firmly recommend that alternative options...
Read moreGood news for celiac people. People who need to eat gluten-free in Japan is a real challenge, and tempura is something that is “painful” to not be able to eat. It is recommended that you contact the restaurant the day before arrival just to make sure they’re prepared. This option does not appear on their menu. It is a service that they can perform if requested, but not...
Read moreI wanted a bento set, and my folks wanted tempura. Our food was served quickly, which we were happy about. Our tempura though isn't hot, nor the sauce. (But maybe because we went in after 1 or 2 in the afternoon.) I'm used to hot food 🇹🇼🇵🇭 I think because of its location being very touristy, it's selling tempura on-the-go outside. But I'm really happy that my bento set is complete with fine radish and ginger for my tempura sauce, wasabi and sashimi, rolled sushi, some vegetables and a bit of dessert, albeit served cold 🍱 And hot matcha 🍵
I'm just told or learned that part of eating in Japan, they're particular about food display.
I also like our server, she is patient and cordial. She explained that since there's three of us dining in, one order for each of us. Which we didn't know that to dine in in Tokyo, when one occupied a seat in...
