Visited the atelier on a recent trip to Tokyo after seeing all the positive reviews and came away with what is now my all time favourite signature scent that I haven’t stopped wearing since – Koke Shimizu, which reminds me of the fresh greenery and clear springs found in a mossy Japanese forest. The pricing was very reasonable starting at ¥15,840 (around NZD $179) for a 50mL bottle with a free small sample of your choosing, and the fragrances are all masterfully blended with a uniquely Japanese character. My only regret is not purchasing another bottle while I was there as Satori’s perfumes are impossible to get in New Zealand where I live.
The atelier itself is a small but beautiful space that you access by dialling the intercom at the street entrance to the building, then coming up the elevator where you’ll be greeted by one of the staff. Inside is a table where the full range of perfumes are laid out with written descriptions and paper cards to sample scents before you buy, as well as a fascinating vintage perfume organ display. The staff were very kind and friendly even with me being an English-speaking customer, and the young woman who helped me with my purchase even gave me a recommendation for a great plant-based restaurant nearby when I mentioned I was vegan and looking to find dinner after completing my shopping for the day! Overall great service and high quality unique perfumes – this place is a must-stop for any fragrance enthusiast passing through Tokyo. I’ll be...
Read moreWhen I travel to another country my favourite thing to bring back with me is perfume. Scent can just bring memories flooding back, and I find it one of the best reminders of a trip. Before I went to Japan I did extensive research on what perfumer's work I wanted to bring home with me and many recommended Parfum Satori.
The shop is just off the main road and you do have to use the buzzer to go up but please don't let that deter you from visiting. You will be graciously shown up to a most magical room furnished with a myriad of little bottles containing all sorts of scented wonders. We were kindly invited to smell all of the incredible perfumes and were encouraged to ask questions and learn more about them.
There was no pressure to buy anything but nevertheless I left with not one but two beautiful bottles of perfume (they were all so incredible, it was very difficult to chose)! Suiren was inspired by paintings by Monet and somehow manages to be fresh and yet so cozy at the same time. It is a delicate, pastel, ethereal scent. Hana Hikaru was one of the most unique perfumes I have ever smelled! It takes you on a journey with notes of melon, magnolia and soy. The effect is that it smells wonderfully of summer.
As we were leaving we even got to meet the perfumer herself! I was very shy meeting such an artist, and consider myself very fortunate that she was there!
I highly recommend visiting and having this wonderful experience...
Read moreI was set on coming home with a unique Japanese perfume after my trip to Japan. I was researching popular Japanese perfumes and stumbled across Parfum Satori. The reviews were positive so decided to journey out there, and I am so pleased I did. It’s a little hard to find however once you call them on the intercom to level 2, they let you straight in and welcomed by the staff, who are absolutely lovely. The experience here was so wonderful and the staff are not pushy or hover over you when you are smelling and reading about each of the perfumes. I came away with a perfume from the premium range and found it to be really reasonably priced (about $216 AUD) and you also receive a sample size of any scent of your choice with purchase. I will absolutely be back next time I...
