EDIT ** I recieved a message from the owner (Mike), saying that he knows the man who caused the problems, and that he will not be allowed to return to Two Dogs. It was encouraging to know that the ownership of the restaurant will take a hard stance against that kind of behavior, thank you Mike, and best wishes to our nice waitress!
We love Two Dogs! Pizza is great, atmosphere is great, but this post is specifically about something that happened during our dinner there tonight (11/11/19). We witnessed 2 older white men order sliders from our waitress (she's great, I wish I could remember her name, but she's super nice and always gets the job done!), one without onions. After almost finishing the sliders, the older of the men confronted the waitress, saying that he "was allergic to onions, and she could have killed him with this mistake", to which she responded that she clearly stated which of the meals didnt contain onions when she set the food down, and that he must have given his friend the no- onion sliders. After she explained this, he got belligerent and offensive immediately, speaking over her at every moment, refusing to listen, raising his voice, and even straight out calling her a bi**h (several times, unabashedly). She was crying, and went behind the bar, obviously not safe to be around the unstable man. I am posting this review just because I know how common it is for old white people to try to ruin someone's livelihood via negative internet reviews, and i want to make sure that someone who witnessed the whole thing could stand up for her. So please, if management/ownership reads this, give that poor girl a raise, because having to deal with that kind of mysogony and aggression on the...
Read moreWelcome to the underworld. Stepping into this place is like entering a tunnel that rips you straight out of Japan—with its reputation for quality—and spits you out on the other side of the world, into a filthy dive bar in the slums of America, or perhaps a dystopian, post-apocalyptic underground pub.
The waiters? They either doze off on the staircase railing leading to the second floor or, when they see you trying to order, stare you dead in the eyes and then go back to doodling. They are depressed, fed up, against the system, against the customers.
I overheard them laughing among themselves while trying multiple times to get rid of two Japanese women who had maybe had one beer too many—but weren’t bothering anyone.
When we arrived and asked to sit at the counter, they said yes, but it was impossible: every stool was stacked on top of another. They didn’t even notice, despite us all standing there, so we moved ourselves to a table instead. How long has it been since someone last sat at that counter?
The tables? Filthy, sticky. We ordered a maxi pizza—it’s supposed to be the main dish on the menu—but the oven was broken. Only regular-size pizzas were available. The toppings were not bad, except that the pizza was basically sashimi. Raw, terrible. Nothing like the photos on Google Maps.
The pizza arrived alone. No utensils, no plates to share, no napkins. We had to wake up the sleeping waitress to ask for cutlery, and only then did the rest follow.
The...
Read moreGood pizza, vegan options available. The restaurant seems to operate in English, but mostly Japanese people were in the shop when I went. Good beer selection on tap.
Service was weak, I think the servers may lack training. We ordered a vegan pizza but were delivered a non-vegan pizza by accident, but were told it was the correct one. Once we ate the pizza and felt it couldn't be vegan pizza, the waitress did check and then profusely apologized. Mistakes happen and she handled it with sincerity but it shows some flaws in the restaurant system.
The waitresses also not fluent in Japanese but they did try their best! I felt a little bit bad because one of the waitresses didn't understand an order and went for help, and the customer said something mean about her after she left.
It's an ok option if it's convenient, but I wouldn't go out of my way to try this place. Also, the cost-value ratio is high on...
