The food looked presentable, but it was nowhere near what was advertised on the screen and menu. And as for authenticity? Not even close.
I took a sip of the soup—chlorine. Maybe sanitizing my tongue would have made the dish taste better. Nope, it didn’t. 😅
Right after I paid at the cashier, one of the waiters approached me for a review. I told him I’d do it after I ate my food. He looked confused and said I’d receive a gift for leaving a review. I replied, “But I haven’t even gotten my food yet.” He just smiled and walked away. Common sense would suggest leaving a review after the meal, no?
The same waiter later went out of his way to serve two ladies, even carrying their food to their table—the only sign of hospitality I witnessed. This is a self-service restaurant where you’re supposed to collect your own food when your number is called. Yet, when I was at the counter, he didn’t even bother handing me the side dishes sitting right in front of him (which were only accessible from his side). I only realized they existed when another waiter placed them on my plate as I came to collect my second dish.
After finishing my meal, I initially left an above-average review just to help the business out. When I showed the waiter my review, he stared at me for a few seconds before asking, “What is it?” Then he told me to wait—but never came back. Eventually, I just left because I needed to use the bathroom.
Overall, it was okay. I can’t speak for the other dishes, but mine definitely did not resemble what was advertised. I’ve had bibimbap made by an elderly Korean lady before—fresh vegetables, a perfectly fried egg. This?...
Read moreOrdered Toppoki set wt Kimari. And my mum got the Hangul chicken and fried squid wt rice. After I had paid and sat down, they told me they are out of toppoki. I was very annoyed wt this considering their store name is Myeondong TOPOKI? How can they ran out of it at 10.45 am in the morning? Anyways I then had to change my order to Ramen and had to add on the Kimari because I really wanted to eat it.
Food took awhile to be ready, you have to wait for your number and then you will have to pick it up yourself at the counter. Service is okay but would be better if they are well stocked.
The fried chicken, fried squid and kimari portions are very small. Taste-wise I like the ramen, the kimbap that comes wt the set, and kimari is tasty too. Basically NO COMPLAINS about the taste of everything my mum and I ordered. It was a tasty meal. But they just really really need to improve on the portion size and readibility of their key ingredient because it makes no sense to open a store wt the word topoki but run out of it just as the store open. Price wise they are cheaper than most Korean restaurants but the portions are mad small. So... come and judge it...

I rarely leave negative reviews, but this experience was beyond disappointing. We waited over 30 minutes for our food — the service was painfully slow and unprofessional. The tamago was served with ice still inside. How is it acceptable to serve food that’s clearly not properly thawed or prepared? Our order was served incorrectly, and I had to remind the staff — shouldn’t that be their responsibility? The seafood was completely not fresh. Everything smelled bad and was clearly spoiled. For green tea, customers are expected to pour it themselves — fine — but the pot was empty. We waited another 10 minutes just to get tea. I didn’t realize I was dining here for free? The seafood noodles were a joke. The noodles were stuck together like a solid block. Was it just thrown into boiling water and left there? Where’s the basic cooking standard? The kimchi was almost inedible — overly sour, mushy, and unbalanced in flavor.
This is by far the worst branch I’ve been to. Other outlets of Myeongdong Topokki have never given me such a horrible experience. I will never return to this location again. Truly...
