If you are looking for a guided tour to see the Aurora (Northern Lights) please stop wasting your time and book a tour with Dan. You can easily spend hours comparing the offerings available on the Internet, but I believe you won't find anyone as good as Dan.
We had a magical experience. It all started at 5pm in Tromso when we met Dan and the other 6 fellows. We jumped in the minivan and Dan drove us North assuring us that we would find the Aurora, no matter how long we should drive.
After less than 1 hour Dan stopped the minivan and as soon as we jumped off it was there, dancing in green and purple. Crystal clear sky with a sinuous Aurora. We were speachless. Dan was so happy and excited that made us even more happier! He helped us to set the cameras to take pictures on our own while he was shooting portraits and filming that wonderful show.
After 15 minutes we jumped back in the minivan and we traveled up North in a quite place. No traffic, no people, no lights. Just us and the Aurora. Dan lighted up the campfire, gave us hot soup (delicious), cake, tea, chocolate and all he brought with him. The Aurora was still there for more than 3 hours, dancing in green and purple, and Dan explained us everything about it.
I have to say. He is not just a photographer and a guide, but a true passionate professional that could drive for hours to let you live that magical experience.
Trust me, stop wasting you time on the Internet. Book a tour with...
Read moreWe did it! We found the Auroras thanks to Dan! Pretty much like the people chasing tornados, we hopped in his van and monitored the weather forecast and satellites images to find clear sky. We drove and drove and eventually reached Finland! And above us were two beautiful auroras! Dan had everything prepared: a bonfire, overalls, warm over-boots, the most amazing soup, hot chocolate, tea, biscuits.. we had a great night! Our phones definitely weren’t up to the task for taking photos, but Dan had a proper camera and took great pictures that we were so happy to wake up to the next morning! He also told us the legends and stories of the old Norse tribes and their interpretations of the Aurora phenomenon. About halfway back to Tromsø, Dan pulled aside and told us to get out of the van. Above us was the most majestic aurora of the night: very bright, very green and dancing! We got back to the hotel at 3 in the morning. We were knackered but it was definitely worth it! Thanks again to Dan, we had the most perfect experience that we could have wished for! We already want to come back to do it...
Read moreDan's tour was amazing! He is a local guide and knows so much about the Northern Lights. You can tell he's really passionate about his job and I think that he is honest, empathetic, and patient. During the tour, he told us about the mythology, explained how the auroras form, and shared some really interesting facts.
Even though we had to wait a little while that night, the aurora was very visible, and it was a truly wonderful experience. He helped with the settings of the camara to make great pictures but he also make some with his own camara and send it to us.
He thinks on everything, he brought tripods, hot soup, snacks, chairs, warm clothes and boots, and started a bonfire to keep us warm.
It's true that no one can guarantee you'll see the Northern Lights, but I've been on other tours where it was obvious that they were just trying to make money. That's definitely not the case with Dan. It's clear that these tours mean more to him than just a job, so I highly recommend him! It was the best experience I've ever had, and I think it was definitely...
