I rarely write reviews, but I feel a duty to warn fellow travelers. My experience with Kevin Amazon Boat on a supposed “Belén Market tour” in Iquitos was an absolute disaster — and frankly, felt like a setup for theft.

The guide took us to a dirty, unsafe, completely deserted area, claiming this was the market. Within minutes, our belongings were stolen — phones, bags, everything. There was no security, no explanation, and zero responsibility taken by the company.

The guide seemed intoxicated or completely unprepared, offered no real information, and quickly disappeared when the situation turned serious. What’s worse, when we asked for help or a refund, we were ignored and even blocked from contacting them.

This company may have had good reviews in the past, but something has changed — they are now ripping off tourists, endangering safety, and pretending it’s all part of the tour.

I could not possibly put into words how wonderful this adventure was for both of us. We’ve been fascinated with the Amazon River and the jungle since our childhoods and we had very high hopes for our day on the river with Kelwin, but we were completely blown away. It was beyond amazing. Kelwin and his boat captain were friendly, professional, and knowledgeable. He met with us the day before our trip and customized our day-plan with us so that we could go to the places that we wanted to go, do what we wanted to do, and see exactly what we wanted to see. He showed us the rivers, the jungle, fish, alligators, birds, sloths and other animals, a waterfall, giant trees, breathtaking vistas, local settlements, and much more, all of the very best spots. I paid him five months in advance and he showed up on time exactly as we had arranged, so I can vouch for his integrity. He’s a great person and we parted as friends.
