Montecarlo Restaurant — Restaurant in Arona

Avoid this place at all costs! It was the worst dining experience I've ever had, not just in Tenerife but ever. We initially intended to dine at Mayte, which is nearby. However, due to it being full, we made a last-minute decision to try this establishment.

The first indication of trouble was when the waiter took too long to provide us with menus, only doing so after we asked. Then, he was consistently unresponsive whenever we called for him. The situation deteriorated further when, during cleanup after the starters, the waiter carelessly threw cutlery around, resulting in food flying across our table. Shockingly, he made no attempt to clean up.

Our main courses were equally disappointing. Out of the four dishes we ordered—two seafood risottos, carbonara, and a gamberi pizza—only the pizza was OK.

To make matters worse, when presented with a bill of approximately €115, we paid via card. However, the waitress returned claiming our payment was declined. Upon checking our Monzo bank app, which confirmed the transaction, she still insisted we wait. Frustrated by the delay, I informed her that we'd leave our contact details and depart. Instead of understanding, she became aggressive, threatening to call the police if we left!

After an unnecessary ordeal, she eventually conceded that the payment had indeed gone through. However, she declared that I was no longer welcome. My friends and I tried to address the issues calmly, highlighting the subpar service and food quality, but she only escalated her hostility.

Went to Montecarlo nice view of sunset, drinks ok but food and service was awful. My husband ordered a pizza and I ordered fresh filled tortellini with pumpkin sauce. Some time later they give us the pizza and then tell me they didn't have tortellini so they went ahead and made it with another type of pasta. I am very hesitant and say it is not what I wanted or ordered. The waiter says they already made it and really pressures me (who just shows up with other food ready instead of telling me they didn't have it so I can order something else) he holds it over me and then kinda just puts it on the table. It is tagliatelle so my meal now is just plain pasta and sauce like you'd give to a 5 year old. Me and my husband split the pizza and eat some of the pasta because half a pizza is not enough dinner for us. Try multiple times to get attention from waiters to complain or change but they just ignore us and even look through us. We ask for the bill, they charge full price for this basic pasta I never asked for. When we question that the waiter gets very rude and says we have to pay full price because we ate some of the pasta and didn't complain earlier. Didn't give us a discount or anything, asked to talk to supervisor and then the waiter got kinda scary and more rude so we just paid and left. This is the only bad review I have ever posted. My wife and I have visited this restaurant many times over the years. Won't be back. Came in and took a seat here around 3.30 pm on Tues 9th Jan. Place was quiet. The younger of the two waiters came over, smiled, said hello and presented both the food and the drinks menus. My wife said "thanks, but we're only in for something to drink today". 'That's no problem, I'll leave the food menu just in case you change your mind'. Good idea we thought. 30-40 seconds later the other waiter came up to the rail at the table and sharply said "You can't sit there this table is booked" Not! 'I'm sorry sir/madam, there is a prior reservation for this table, May I suggest another'. No!. Just "This table is booked" There was no reservation cards, no place mats, cutlery, condiments or any other indicators of a booking for this or any other tables. I said "your kidding!" and pointed to the next table. "That table's booked as well. Both these tables are booked. You can sit back there" indicating into the darkness as he turned and left. (Nobody was coming for these tables) I looked at my wife who said "let's just leave the angry man alone and go somewhere else. As we were leaving the other waiter who knew nothing about all this nonsense said "Sorry! Is there a problem?" I replied "looks like all your tables are booked" Shameful. L....
