I ordered and waited for 2 odd momths for a limited edition turntable player from your company and was very disappointed to discover that the packaged was mishandled.
I wrote to you to explain why did you send me this item knowing the packaging was so badly damaged?
I also explained in detail the condition of the original packaging and i was expecting to hear the reason why but all i got was I can take it or leave it as it was a limited edition item.
I waited so long for this piece and because you said you guys take extra care and pride on all your items your sell... then why didn't you?
This was meant as a gift for my friend,... It was not suitable as one anymore.
I took pictures showing you the extent of the condition of the package before you ship this to me. No explanation whatsoever.
The original inner packaging was damaged in various sections of which -
a portion of the original inner packaging was ripped and torn on the upper packaging (the missing portion was nowhere be found inside the outer Amazon packaging used to protect it).
a portion of the original inner packaging was damaged by an object great enough to leave several large dents on the bottom of the packaging. (the Amazon outer package visually looked fine).
The outer packaging was fine, but the inner packaging was badly damaged, and with the portion of missing torn inner packaging, the damage could have occurred before the item was shipped.
I hope i could have gotten an explanation but sadly it...
Read moreI've been re-building my vinyl collection and have found the Elusive Disc an excellent source of many of the audiophile quality re-pressings I am interested in. I like 180 gram records made with great attention to the details of the pressing process and feel that I find many top quality recordings available on this site. I am focussed on jazz and classical in particular and often listen to streamed, hi-rez versions of the albums before buying. However, vinyl is my first love, and I still feel the purest sound quality is produced by vinyl on a great sound system. I am a member of two audiophile listening clubs and often bring records to our gatherings to share with the critical listeners in our groups. It still impresses me that records like Gil Shaham and Goran Sollscher's "Schubert for Two" or "Paganini for Two" can hold our group spellbound for an entire side in pin-drop silence. Similarly, the perfection of Bill Evan's "Everybody Digs Bill Evans" has the same impact on my other listening group who seem attentive even to the silences between notes. I've found the Elusive Disc a very satisfactory suppliier of my best quality records and often find myself sitting in awe when a play a new album for the first time. Playing superb vinyl re-releases of old music like Duke Ellington's "Blues in Orbit" or Duke and Johnny Hodges' "Back to Back" can literally stun you with the sound quality you can find there. The Elusive Disc is a great source of some truly...
Read moreOkay, so I'm 61 and come from the classic rock era and like some jazz, blues, folk, and so on. I have never had an album from John Hiatt, but I discovered Jerry Douglas back in the 80's from the MCA Master Guitar series. I have been looking for palette cleanser music ... something different. Something I don't hear on FM radio today, and looking at artists that were around during my life, but that I missed. Normally, I don't go for most new music. But after checking out the sound clips on the product page, it only took two songs for me to know I would like this.
The LP arrived today, along with a John Prine album (same thing with John, I'm ashamed to say). I have to speak to two things.
First, this album has no surface noise at normal levels. My wife is downstairs, so I can't turn up loud right now. But the sound of silence is golden. No pops, ticks, or anything. I'm a picky dude, and this has got me rethinking new vinyl. New vinyl in general seems to be hit and miss ... unless you pick recording / pressing companies that have a good track record of high quality.
Second, and most importantly, I'm enjoying this masterful recording, both with performance and engineering. It's nice to hear an artist in their twilight years, who still has an engaging voice, with the fine qualities you expect from someone with decades of experience in life and in their craft.
Do yourself a favor and get this album. I don't see how you...
