If I could give this place zero stars, it would still be too many. Traveling often for dog sports, I've stayed in some sketchy accommodations, but this is the first time I've actually left because a place was so bad. When I walked into the room, I thought the chair was just two-tone. Oh no! Someone thought no one would notice if they did a terrible upholstery job by covering a brown vinyl chair with white stick-on vinyl fabric to cover the worn places on the original fabric. It looked like something Leatherface (Texas Chainsaw Massacre) would create if he made furniture, and I referred to it as "the murder chair" to friends later. Not sure how anyone thought that chair was acceptable! Just throw it out already! The sink faucet came off in my hand when I turned on the water. Luckily, it worked and popped right back on, but WTF?! There were large gaps in the vinyl/laminate hardwood floor, and significant scratches in places where the furniture had been moved. Most of the power outlets had gaps where they didn't meet the drywall, had been half painted over, and/or were cracked. The tub faucet dripped all night, the bathroom tile was cracked, and the baseboard molding was pulling away from the walls. Pretty sure I found some mouse poop on the comforter of one of the beds. I would've checked out immediately, but there aren't many pet-friendly options in the area at 11 pm, so I put my own sheets and pillow on the bed without mouse poop and slept with the TV on because I was a little afraid of what might crawl out in the dark. My concerns were not unfounded because I awoke to multiple roaches crawling around the room in the morning. I was supposed to stay two nights, but I obviously checked out first thing in the morning. By far the worst hotel I've...
Read moreWe went for 5 nights and met with family from Tennessee. It’s not a luxury stay, but for what we needed the room for and no charge for our dog it definitely met our needs and comfort ability. Shower worked awesome, the room was pretty clean and though it’s an older motel the bathroom was very clean except for a cobweb above the bathroom sink . The bathroom door could use a coat of paint. The bed and pillows was comfortable and I loved my pillow so much I thought about asking if I could buy it because I slept like a baby with it sooo comforting. Air worked excellent! The only thing I really found issue with was the floor you really couldn’t walk in your socks or barefoot because we found out that even though the floor was swept and looked clean it was very dirty so we wore either our shoes or flip flop type shoes. It’s always a comfortable stay when we stay here other than the floors. If you want a quieter stay like us then you want a room on the side facing the Anderson Welcome Center. Location is excellent! Right off exit 226. Lots of restaurants, HARRAH’s Casino and harness raceway track no more than 10 minutes away, shopping etc. The owners , employees are very nice and helpful. They do what you need . No one bothered us. Lots of areas to walk your dogs. It Indy 500 weekend so we paid $100 for each night and again no up charge for our dog. Yes we will stay again and hopefully the floors will start getting mopped good. We will always bring our inside footwear no matter where we stay because we have found this an issue with other floors or carpeting in even a more expensive motels or hotels! So for all the afore mentioned I say...
Read moreCompared to other hotel properties, I gotta say this place feels way out dated. Rooms are Non Smoking, yet my bed sheets had cigarette burn marks in them. Pillows were way worn down. A couple of towels did have old stains in them, I just used the 1 wash cloth 1 towel that wasn't stained. Got to the room, turned on the heater, and within a few minutes, the room smelled of cigarette smoke, but after a few shots of freebreeze, (... always carry one when traveling) eventually, the smoke smell went away. The bathtub looked a little rough, and as mentioned in other reviews... hot water doesn't last long. I can't say there wasn't any at all as I did manage to get some hot water out when I first turned the faucet on, but as I mentioned to the front desk clerk at checkout, hot water definitely doesn't last long at all. The area is quiet, Golden Corral is literally a few walking steps from your room door, and I did see a shuttle come by from the Casino to pick up another hotel guest, if that's what you're looking to do, hit the Casino. The location and very reasonable price is what drew me to stay at the Red Roof for the night, the staff was really friendly and despite the multiple pillow shuffles and fluffing I did manage to get a good night's sleep. If they do a massive upgradeable updated remodel job, I'd be happy to give them 5 stars, but for now... 3 is...
