Incredibly Disorganized and Unprofessional Passport Service – Avoid This Location
Our recent experience attempting to apply for a passport at the USPS, 5885 Allison St, Arvada, CO, location was intensely frustrating, unprofessional, and poorly managed from start to finish. Despite arriving during the times stated online (without conditions or limitations) walk-in hours for passport services, we were turned away after a 30-minute wait, with no reasonable explanation or accountability from staff.
We arrived at 10:05 a.m., well within the walk-in window of 10:00 to 11:00 a.m. There were only two people ahead of us in line. By 10:30 a.m., the second individual was called up, and we were next. However, at that point, Blaue abruptly informed us—without courtesy or professionalism—that we would not be seen. This was a surprise to us as we were next in line, and there were still approximately 30 minutes left in the walk-in hours for passports.
When we inquired further, we were met with dismissiveness and confusion. The supervisor, Jeff, appeared completely unprepared to answer even the most basic questions about the process or how such situations are typically handled. He was visibly overwhelmed, unable to explain the rationale behind their decision, and offered no solutions or alternatives. He stated that it takes approximately 15 minutes to process a passport application (which would mean we still fell well within the time to have our applications processed before 11:00. Jeff's demeanor and lack of leadership were concerning for someone in a supervisory role.
To make matters worse, both Jeff and a clerk named Gina confirmed that the employee responsible for passport applications prioritizes other duties—even during the designated walk-in hour. They specifically mentioned that the clerk doing passports needed to take a break during the time allotted for walk-in hours. This admission was baffling. It calls into question why specific times are advertised if there is no commitment to honoring them.
Jeff and Gina further stated that it is "expected" that people arrive at 9:00 a.m. to wait in line for the 10:00 a.m. walk-in period. This is entirely unreasonable, especially for families like ours—two adults with two young children—who must all be present for the application process. When we asked how the public is supposed to know about this expectation, Jeff offered no reasonable answer. He suggested calling ahead, though the website provides no such instruction. It clearly lists walk-in hours as 10:00 to 11:00 a.m., with no indication that earlier arrival is required or that services may be arbitrarily denied.
Furthermore, when we expressed our intent to file a complaint and asked for identifying information about the involved staff, including clerks Gina and Blaue, they refused to provide any details. This lack of transparency and accountability is unacceptable in any public-facing service.
This was an infuriating and demoralizing experience. The staff displayed a complete lack of professionalism, courtesy, and competence. Supervisor Jeff is unfit for a leadership role, and clerks Gina and Blaue were equally unhelpful and rude. The disorganization, failure to adhere to posted hours, and dismissive attitude toward the public demonstrate a total disregard for the people they are supposed to serve.
I strongly urge others to seek passport services elsewhere. This location is unreliable and disrespectful of people's time and needs—particularly families trying to navigate already bureaucratic processes.

Read moreBad service. Walk in hours not respected, the website doesn't provide accurate information. After waiting for 30 min, were told passport application could not be processed even though only one person was in front of us at that point and supervisor specified it takes 15 minutes to process (we showed up at 10:05, there were two people in front of us, after the second one was called at 10:30, were told in an unprofessional manner that we're not going to be seen). The supervisor, Jeff, was lost and completely overwhelmed with inquiry about the processes in place to resolve any issues and was unable to coherently answer any questions about the process. He and a clerk Gina confirmed that during designated hours for passport applications, the clerk responsible for those, prioritises other tasks, including her breaks. Jeff and the clerk said their expectation is that people show up at 9 to wait for walk in hours that start at 10 and wait; we were with two small children and the application requires both adults present. Jeff was unable to answer how people are supposed to know about this before hand. He suggested people call, which isn't specified on the website, which iust states walk-in hours between 10-11. Overall an infuriating experience, Jeff is unfit for his position. Clerks Gina and Blake unprofessional and rude. When asked, employees were unwilling to provide any information to further identify them, after we stated that we will be proceeding with complains. Choose any...
Read moreAfter not receiving mail for 3 weeks i found a note in my mailbox readin “vacant”. On the other side of the note was another address and the residents first and last names. Figuring there was a mistake I tried callin the post office multiple times. No one ever answered so I decided to take the day off work (I am a public school teacher so this is extremely inconvenient for everyone) to deal with the situation. When I went to the post office the man behind the desk was extremely nice and helpful. However, he went to get my mail and the the mail carrier for my area came with him. The mail carrier began to inform me that I had not picked up mail since August and he has been carrying it around all over town. I have picked up my mail since August. In the mail they gave me none of the mail was from further out then 2 weeks. The mail carrier then told me he left that note in my mail box to “send me a message” and to “get my attention”. Other mail carrieres came around the corner to watch and I began cryin. Under his breath the mail carrier said he needed to boss because I was bein “hysterical”. Embarassed I grabbed my mail and left. This mail carrier did not leave any formal note informing me of the situation, he illegally seized my ballot, according to him he disposed of some of my mail, and he verbally harassed me in the post office. How is this man able to work for the government...
