After a long day of traveling, I finally arrived to the Midtown South property to several inefficiencies that made for a challenging stay. Firstly, the electronic keypads were inconsistent in their functionality. Sometimes they worked as the app instructed, and sometimes they did not. I was told by a security guard that the keypad at the lobby entrance could only be opened using the code - not the mobile app. Even though the app said otherwise. Then, within an hour of my arrival and check-in, I attempted to start the shower only for the shower head to fall off making it inoperable. I sent a message on the app about it and the responding person in the chat said that they would send someone to fix it, but that it couldn’t happen until the next day. I was then told that they would move me to another room and then after it was fixed, I would have to move back to the original room. I was quite shocked that anyone would think that these were workable solutions. After a lot of back and forth with the “person” (bot maybe??) in the chat, I was told that someone would come up momentarily. A gentleman stopped by in the next fifteen minutes and fixed the shower in less than five minutes. Why wasn’t that the first proposed resolution?? The shower continued to be an issue during our stay. The hot water runs out rather quickly, so showers were extremely abbreviated. Next…at some point during our stay, I needed to replenish some room supplies, so I went to the 4th floor (near room 413 - as advised by the app) to get some things from the Essentials Closet. Imagine my confusion when I arrive to the area and THERE-IS-NO-ESSENTIALS-CLOSET. Just a small coffee table and two chairs. At another point during our stay - I needed more towels because some of the towels in my room were dirty. I went to the app to ask the bot - I mean person - where I could get more towels. I was told that someone would bring them to me. No one ever did. I then received a separate message saying that I could get more towels from the Essentials Closet. Unfortunately, that’s not actually true, because in addition to at least one advertised Closet being non-existent, the other two that I visited did not have any towels in sight. Lastly, the unit was not very well-insulated from sound. Depending on the time of day, the people staying above us sounded like they were having marching band practice at varying points during our stay. I am rather frustrated and disappointed by my experiences and would have to think twice before spending money with...

Read moreI just completed a 4 night stay in their "Superior One-Bedroom" room. It was an overall lovely stay. Condo style apartment; spacious for that description. The room itself felt pretty safe; deadbolt lock, as well as the door blocker thing that hotels have on their door. Full kitchen; dishwasher, full-sized fridge + stove, along with dishes (incl. small frying pan, large pot and a tiny pot). Dishwashing liquid + sponge provided, and a few laundry pods, to go along with their in-unit small washer and dryer. Excellent to have this!
As they mention on their website, a grocery & drugstore store are a 5 minute walk away.
Now, cons: The neighborhood is noisy at night (people talking loudly outside, loud vehicles driving fast)- not excessively, but if you need total silence when sleeping, this would not be the place for you. Sonder provides earplugs, though.
The apartment building is also noisy at night. Every night, I heard several banging noises. A friend staying one floor above me also testified of this.
That area of Atlanta has a lot of homeless people. They walk around and mostly mind their own business, but you never know. Walking around at night (even the day to a degree) made me feel uncomfortable. The street Sonder is on does not seem to have a lot of people walking at once, though out the day or night, aside for some people who appear to be homeless. *Just to be clear, people experiencing homelessness are not the problem, rather, it is the company / behavior that often accompanies that (drugs, alcohol, calling after people). This is simply the fact I'm trying to highlight.
Also, Sonder staff is not always at tue front desk; it is a self-check in place.. however, they have clear resources if someone needs support. The apartment is about a 15 minute walk to the heart of downtown.
I liked my stay and appreciated many things that this company provides. 4 stars, because it is better than the average Hilton Garden Inn (and other similar places), because of what they provide IN the apartment, for a very REASONABLE price.
I would recommend this Sonder location, if you're okay with the...
