Talbots — Local services in Bangor

I had never shopped at Talbots before I had driven by many times and where I work changed the dress code so no more jeans - business casual. and I wanted nice cotton linen clothes, not microfiber / polyester. I stopped in on Friday to check out and see what they had. The store was lovely open airy bright, clean, well organized - Very different from walking into a department store and being overwhelmed. The lovely ladies who work there were very welcoming, sweet and kind. I believe their names were Jane and Christie. They made my shopping experience wonderful and we’re very willing to help and offered good suggestions and Jane went above and beyond to try to go find a matching top for these beautiful flower print pants that I fell in love with. And when I went to check out, they even explained to me about the one on one service with a stylist to help you if you have a special occasion, I’ll keep that one in my back pocket for the next time I need it. Overall, it was such a good welcoming experience. And I love the petite section half the store was petites and I am a woman that needs petite size pants because I’ve got a shorter inseam and regular size tops. I’m very happy with the two outfits that I bought and the store was on sale. Buy one get 1 and 50% off so my four pieces worked out very nicely. I have been a loyal Talbots shopper for many years and visit Talbots wherever I travel. I was in store # 4441 Bangor Maine on July 18, 2025 with my husband we walked the entire store and was never greeted or asked if we needed assistance. Nor did either sales associate say goodbye as we left. I went back into the store to ask their store number. It was at that time the sales clerk wanted to offer an apology and an excuse. Another customer walked in while I was expressing my disappointment in their lack of typical Talbot customer service and she greeted the woman walking in the store. I pointed out that she failed to greet me. I don’t want to assume the poor service was a result of race but the two sales associates were white and the other three customers in the store were white as well. I am African American. The reason I gate to attribute the poor service to race is because I have never experienced this in any Talbots. Therefore I will assume the Talbots in Bangor Maine simply has rude associates that require customer service training...

I had excellent service! We are going on a cruise next week and I needed cute clothes for our cruise. I made an appointment with Sandra and she was amazing!! She helped me a couple years ago and this time she went over and beyond. She knew exactly what sundresses I looked cute in and flattering with my figure. I don’t like wearing shorts because of my thighs. She listened to me and I have a cute skorts outfits that I feel comfortable wearing. I have amazing new outfits to wear on the cruise and even after the cruise I can wear the outfits to work as well that’s a huge win win!! Thank you so much Sarah!!
