Island Imports Ltd — Local services in Bar Harbor

Came here during my vacation to maine. My dad and I drive over an hour to shop in bar harbor. I come to this shop every year and made sure that I remembered they close at 6pm. I was coming back for a hoodie and a glass lizard. Got to the store by 5:40pm and guess what they were closed!!!! I begged to be let in as the store was crowded with people browsing mean while I knew what I wanted and was then going to leave. I tried to mouth to the guy please I know what I want I'll be in and out in 2 seconds and he just kept saying nope. Go away!! I've been coming to this store since I was 8 and I'm now turning 30. It's really sad seeing a small business owner act stuck up as if they're a corporation with many stores all over... I have my own small business and would NEVER treat my customers like this!! This experience really put a bad taste in my mouth and now makes me really value other...

If I could give negative stars I would. We walked in to spend $200+ dollars and left spending nothing. The owner or manager had her dog on the counter who started barking at another dog who had come into the store. The counter had a sign that said “please do not pet, my dog has issues” we were simply looking at the dog barking and the owner came over and made a snarky comment saying “just ignore those ladies, stop looking at my dog”. I replied, “you just lost our business” her response: “I really don’t care”. This is not a place I will be spending mt hard earned money. We walked a few shops down and were greeted with the nicest employee where we ended up spending our money. Do not stop to shop here....

We visited this store on a Friday mid-day and I found two sweatshirts I loved. We bopped to get a coffee as I sat on my purchasing decision, and went back while we waited for dinner reservations at 6:15 and they were closed… we thought okay… and went back Saturday morning at 10:15 am - closed…. No sign, no hours posted. We were sad but thought they’ll be open this afternoon and all of a sudden at 3pm there was a sign on the door that said closed on saturdays. I’m sorry why? Do you hate business? So many tourists with their head in the window wanting to go in. Seems like dumb business owners to me, and I won’t wait around on Sunday for them...
