I went in today to buy a couple things and use my birthday gift coupon. First, I have to mention that the two people that helped me in makeup were AMAZING. So nice and gave great recommendations. I wish I got their names but it was a tall guy and a girl with dark hair. They were incredible and I wish the rest of the staff were up to par with their customer service. Went up to the register and it was akward at first. The girl just stood there and didn't say anything so I was like.... Hi I'm here to buy this and grab my birthday gift. She pretty much dead pan told me that they were out of the birthday gifts. I wasn't even upset about that, I know that happens. Then before I could say anything, a woman I'm assuming was a manager stepped in and was the same level of rude explaining that the birthday gift emails go out at the beginning of the month and to try another store with less traffic. I literally didn't say anything about being upset about it, they could have just been nice normal people and rung up the rest of my stuff and I would have been fine. Then I asked about the Ulta brand items I bought and whether it qualified for the 10 piece gift. Again, with a tone that felt like she was annoyed with me, she said "it needs to be $19.99 of product" .... Which if she would have nicely told me the amount to qualify I probably would have went over and grabbed more stuff. But it felt like they just wanted me to leave and didn't care. Both of them came off as super rude and unnecessary in our interaction. When I went to leave, the friend that was with me even said "are you sure you don't want to just return that stuff? They were super rude..." It was that obvious. So maybe the register staff can get some tips from the makeup team on how to appropriately interact...
Read moreNot too impressed today... I used to live in Beaverton and this is the ULTA I always visited. I drove from Hillsboro to go here today because I really wanted to buy new makeup and I was hoping that the girls at ULTA could help me. I have always appreciated their personal flair and diversity of styles. For me, buying makeup is an overwhelming task. There are so many choices and I had no idea where to start. I admit, I had an expectation that someone would be about to help me. It just didn't end up happening. The store seemed sufficiently staffed. It was early Monday afternoon, and it wasn't too busy. I walked the aisles searching, and still didn't have any staff approach me to help although several walked past me. I suppose I could've asked for help, but I felt a little uncomfortable doing that because the staff there were doing tasks, and they appeared busy and unavailable. I ended up picking out a couple eye liners and then decided to put them back because the visit just wasn't turning out as I'd hoped. I ended up leaving the store buying nothing. No new makeup. Mission impossible not accomplished. I left feeling disappointed, defeated, and a little sad about the whole thing. I don't think my experience represents everyone's, but I do feel that if you are wanting one on one help, perhaps this is just not the location to...
Read moreWhen it comes to Ulta, I tend to get easily overwhelmed. I have a really hard time navigating this store, especially when busy. I always just aimlessly wander around until I'm noticed. The last time I was there, last weekend, I was helped by two amazingly friendly women who helped me figure out good skincare for my skin-- which is very, VERY dry. I get cracked lips often, and my skin basically just tends to flake all the time in my T zone. I wish I got these women's names, because the help I got has improved my skin so drastically in just five or six days! There's an immediate difference!! I'm so glad I went to this location, which actually offers Laura Mercier, my favorite brand, and has very competent employees! I definitely plan to never return to the 185th location unless I have to, these ladies seriously won my heart! I also appreciate the organization of this location-- much less chaotic. I've never seen the line at this store get in the way of customers, unlike the 185th location where the line can go around half the store, taking up a lot of sections. I've never personally had any serious issues with the 185th location, but it is a much bigger hassle to get in and out of that store than it is with this one. Good job...
