My family and I made a last minute decision to go out to dinner to celebrate our house sale and called Bos Taurus to make a reservation. We were concerned about this being an appropriate restaurant to bring a 4 year old to because it looks quite fancy from the outside. We were assured over the phone that they had a table that would work perfectly for us and asked us to come on down! From the moment we walked in it was like we were the only guests. We were greeted by both our server, Dave and the GM, Benjamin the moment we walked through the door. They offered to take our coats and hung them up for us so that we wouldn't be wrestling with them in our booth. It was as if everyone knew we were celebrating and we received congratulations from everyone that approached our table including the back waiter (who's name I have forgotten) that filled our water glasses. The GM served us our champagne and asked us if we'd like to enjoy it in flutes or wine glasses, a move that we appreciated a lot b/c we prefer to enjoy in wine glasses and are usually just given one or the other. As you can imagine we wanted to just enjoy the dining experience and let our server Dave know what appetizers we'd like, what entres and sides and asked that he simply time the meal out for us and he did an amazing job. Each dish was an exquisite experience all on their own, the oysters were amazing, Hamachi Crudo was a delicate dance of flavor on the tongue, the Hudson Valley Foie Gras Terrine was presented with a dome over the top filled with smoke then revealed by Dave dazzling the eye and revealing the beautiful edible masterpiece below (seriously you must try this when you go there, it's heaven! the flavors dance on your tongue and the buttery/salty foie could be a desert all on its own). My entre was the Petit Filet Mignon (5oz)* with dungenes crab and brown butter bernaise while my husband had the Flannery Holstein, (16oz) 16 Day Dry Age Bone In Rib Eye with Perigord Truffle Butter and Mitake mushrooms. My mouth is watering just typing that out! Neither one of us could stop ourselves from devouring the entire steak. Our daughter, as you may expect, ordered the Macaroni and Cheese and it was a treat for all of us. She even got fresh squeezed orange juice which was incredible. As we enjoyed each other's company we were visited a few times by Dave and Benjamin and the kind back waiter who all made it a point to include our daughter in the conversation which made her light up and our hearts light up. Then Chef Ryan stopped the table and congratulated us as well and offered to let our daughter watch as he made ice cream with liquid nitrogen. He set up a step stool in the kitchen and had her hike up to it and explained to her what he was doing and why. We were all dazzled and it was the best ice cream we've ever had. The entire crew at Bos Taurus is top notch and made our celebration so memorable because of the personality of everyone there, their attention to detail, our awesome waiter Dave who took excellent care of us, Benjamin's check-ins and great conversation, and Chef Ryan's culinary masterpieces delighted our senses beyond measure. I highly recommend treating yourself to a dining experience at Bos Taurus and don't forget to try their signature cocktail the smokey manhattan and the foie gras. You won't regret it! Thank you for a wonderful evening Dave, Benjamin and Ryan. We will definitely be back and are telling our circle to come...
Read moreA perfect restaurant, no less. My evening at Bos was one of the most well spent of my time in Bend. My partner and I indulged in this chic and appropriately renowned steakhouse to celebrate his belated birthday; available reservations were few and far between so we were unfortunately unable to get in closer to his actual birthday, but the wait was entirely worth it. The atmosphere of this fashionable staple of the Bend scene is intimate and undeniably modern and genuine. We were seated upstairs and subsequently could take in the views of the bijou main dining room and bar below us and the pleasantly strung lights and decor above us and to our sides. It was obvious with one glance that the approaching dinner experience would be extravagant and memorable, and I was not disappointed at all. Rather, all my expectations were exceeded. Our server, Damon, was extremely kind to both of us and happily answered any and all of our questions, even when they didn’t pertain to the menu. His expertise of all menu items and history of the business were very impressive, and he made us feel perfectly welcome and comfortable. The food was delectable to say the least, with mouth-watering appetizers and sides to compliment the fantastic steaks that earn Bos Taurus its prestigious name and status. We ordered the 8oz filet mignon and the 10oz Australian Wagyu bavette with sides of sautéed potatoes and brussel sprouts as well as a stunning smoked foie gras, making for one of the best tasting and most well-presented meals of my life. The quality of the experience continued to rise for the entire evening, and was certainly a night to remember. Dinner at Bos is unmistakably an occasion to prepare for, but the high bill total is absolutely worth it and the whole staff, who all smiled and thanked us both on our way out, no matter how limited our interactions with some of them were, deserve gracious tips. If you’re looking for a special celebration or a memorable dinner with anyone close to you, look no further...
Read moreThis review does not reflect the food quality. The food was absolutely fantastic! However, the service has much to be desired. The bartender we were stuck with last night was horrendous. WORST service I've ever had. There were only about 8 people at the bar table, 3 of which left within 5 minutes of our arrival. The reason I bring this up is because he wasn't busy with customers, so no excuse for the abysmal service. We sat down and watched this man prepare drinks for about 20 minutes, right in front of us, before he acknowledged our existence and asked if we wanted water... Not drinks, just water lol. Fast forward another 20 minutes, he once again made eye contact and asked what we wanted to drink. We took advantage and ordered our food and appetizers lol. Before we did, I asked a question about the food, by which he responded in a robotic and highly unfriendly manner. It made us feel like we didn't belong and didn't matter. We then received our food in a timely manner, which was nice. After we finished our food, we had to wait a good 30 minutes just to receive our check and receive boxes... It took that long for him to check up on us. I couldn't even get a refill of soda because he didn't check up sufficiently. I've worked in fine dining, and this wasn't the experience I hoped it would be. Thankfully, the staff other than the bartender was incredibly friendly! They made us feel welcome, so for their sake, I'll return. Please have a word with your bartenders, at the very least the one with tons of tattoos on his arm. He's not better than anyone on the team. Customers should come first before drinks, especially when I'm paying almost $300...
