After reading the reviews to find best breakfast places in Bend, J Dub was definitely on our list. The pictures of the Mr. OCTOBER AND CHICKEN FRIED CHICKEN, were absolutely on point and lead us to the best meal of the weekend.

We serve seated right away inside which was very nice! When we were seated we realized it was just past 12pm. And we were devistated to think we missed out on breakfast. We asked our server if there was any way we could still order from that menu and she said it was fine. What a relief! We are definitely breakfast lovers over lunch.

2 of us ordered the chicken fried chicken. For me I asked to substitute the sweet potato tots! I saw them on the plate next to us and they looked crispy. My husband orded the Mr. October and daughter ordered biscuits and gravy.

Let's just say, to begin with we almost always try the chicken fried steak or chicken when on vacation. It's our favorite. The sauce was not only made from scratch, but it had tons of sausage with an explosion of flavor. But the best part was the chicken fried chicken was breaded and fried to perfection. When you feel the crunch as you cut it while being drenched in gravy, you know they executed it to perfection! Perfect over easy eggs and a fluffy made from catch biscuit. The sweet potatoe tots were the perfect substitute for the Obrien potatoes my son had. They added just a touch of sweet to accent the savory CFC. The house sauce in the bottle was delicious as well. Mayo, catsup, horseradish type sauce gave it a kick.

The Mr. October sounded so good from my husband. The bacon with fried chicken breast stuffed in a biscuit covered with sausage gravey, oh and some scrambled eggs inside, he was in heaven. Usually I would ask for a bite but I was in euphoria myself with my CFC. Next time, I would probably ask for a slice of bacon on my CFC to bring the two dishes together. He probably would have liked over easy eggs on his Mr. October but didn't think it was an option.

The surprise was the side of Blueberry Pancakes my son ordered to split with my husband. I had a bite and they were the most incredible tasting pancakes I have ever had at a restaurant. Tasted hardy, different than just white flour blah pancakes. It tasted almost like a little cinnamon in there. Amazing! I asked for some jam and they had some rasberry freezer jam packets that kicked it up a knotch.

The plastic screens between each booth in the back were a Covid precaution addition. I can understand why. I actually didn't mind it. Makes each table seem more private. The servers were sooo friendly. At the end I asked her to thank the chef for doing a breakfast order after 12pm. I heard her go back and tell them. Thanks! If we weren't going to have the chance to have breakfast I probably would have gone to one of the other restaurants on my list.

Yesterday we waited about 45 minutes to get a table at Chow. I will review them later. The flavors there were very good and unique. The Corned Beef Hash bowl was to die for that my husband shared with me. BUT their chicken fried steak was soggy and the steak was just a steak, not even a pounded tender piece like you would have expected. The blue cheese and mushrooms did add to an explosion of flavor. But I couldn't get over it being soggy. That is why I was soooo thankful for an awesome meal at JDub.

Thanks so much JDub we will definitely be back next time we...

I’m on a lifelong quest to find the best chimichanga in the known universe, and little did I know that I’d find one of the best here at J DUB. By no means is this a chimichanga in the traditional sense, but it turns out that doesn’t matter much. There are a few places out there dishing out breakfast chimis, and from now on I’m going to make it a point to try more of them.

In my universal 13 point scale of chimichanga deliciousness, J DUB’s breakfast chimichanga scores a very strong 11. The tortillas were fried to a perfect golden brown with a good crunch and zero sogginess. The eggs and bacon were cooked nicely, with the bacon being maybe ever so slightly on the chewy side. I loved the sausage gravy and pico de gallo on top. I would’ve loved a little more pico, if I’m honest. I think the only thing holding this chimi back from excellence is the lack of avocado or guacamole. I can forego the traditional sour cream thanks to the sausage gravy, but for looks and added depth of flavor and mouthfeel, some avocado would’ve taken this to the next level. The plate itself wasn’t very appealing, being various shades of brown with a dash of red. Plating could use an upgrade, no doubt. But the flavors were great, and the potatoes were an excellent pairing.

All that being said, I really enjoyed my experience here. Our server was quick witted and fun to chat with, and our food came out quickly and hot. Refills were promptly offered, and we all felt like we got good bang for the buck. J DUB will be on rotation for me next time I’m in town,...

Decided to give this place a try because of the great reviews. Unfortunately this place needs some work and left us disappointed. We walked in and waited 15 mins while there were plenty of empty seats next to the front station both on the left of us, behind in front window and to the right of the window. A customer impatiently yells BILL while we're waiting then a party a party of 4 comes in behind us. We still waited never got acknowledged or greeted while another party of 4 comes in so now there are 8 total behind us. Mind you while this is happening she is coming to the computer at the front desk about 4 or 5 times typing things in. One of the waitresses tells another waiter to seat both parties of 4 down and completely ignored us while we were there first before both parties. He sees us and seats us. While we're waiting, its been 35 mins now we see the two parties of 4 getting already seated and getting their drinks and food being ordered while we are still waiting to get water?! So now we have to wait for drinks and food after two parties of 4 get their orders in before us? Are you kidding?! We walked out and left. No one acknowledged us when we left. To J DUB, you need a hostess to greet and seat people. This was so disorganized. Your servers didn't know how to seat anyone or acknowledged any customers coming in. After 35 -40 mins no one checking on us and parties coming in after getting served with no acknowledgement to us, no thanks we won't be coming back. Unfortunately, we live in Bend too so BIG...

I had the black bean veggie burger with the sweet potato tots. It was all excellent! I've tried a lot of veggie burgers at many different restaurants and this one is in my top three. The burger patty itself was flavorful (at some restaurants the veggie patty is a bit bland tasting). The other ingredients on the burger complemented the burger well. The burger was sizeable but still easy to consume without pieces falling out everywhere and being messy to eat. I hate when burgers are messy, hard to eat with half the contents of the burger ending up falling on my plate. This was not the case here at all. The sweet potato tots were excellent! I wish more restaurants served these as I enjoyed them more than sweet potato fries. Little crunchy morsels of heaven 🤤 The restaurant was clean and orderly. There were not many other customers when we went, so the atmosphere was quiet and peaceful. No loud music or TVs either which was great. Parking was a hassle since it's in downtown Bend. We found a parking lot a couple blocks away that had a space available. The service was good. The server was very careful to take down the orders correctly and the food came out in a reasonable amount of time.
