This trip was an interesting trip on 7/24/22.
There was someone new at the register, Dee. When I approached register 1, I had to wait a few moments while she checked her cell phone, then wait for her to put it away at register 3. She then went to ring my order and where a pricing issue came up and she was nice enough to allow me to make a switch of one item that was mispriced/in the wrong spot. I came back to register, made my purchase with my coupon and it occurred to me that my total should have been lower, given $10 off $20 but I thought nothing of it till I got right outside the exit and something made me check my receipt. Dee had failed to take off the one item I had went to exchange and yet charged me for that and the other item I chose to replace it as well.
NOW, here is the kicker: when I went back into the store not even 1 minute later, there is Dee at the register who suddenly says, "I forgot to take that off didn't I? I realized it after you walked out." REALLY Dee? You could not have stepped away or had a coworker step away for a moment to let me know? I was only 30 feet away. Funny, you found the time to make me wait at the register for you to check your cell phone but were willing to let me leave with an additional almost $9 on my bill knowing I had exchanged it and not even an attempt to let me know before I drove home. That says a LOT about how she feels about her Big Lots customers. I won't bother with her again.
Other than this quibble, the store is good and staff...
Read moreAfter doing our end of calling 2 weeks in advance to let them know we are picking up a chair, we arrived at the store to pick up said chair without calling (which was our bad). The chair wasn't available because of a warehouse mixup, a sales associate said to work with us he would pick it up on his way home and it would be at the store at 9 am. He was nice enough to call and let us know it wasn't there because he had truck problems but that another assistant manager would bring it in around noon, shift change is at 1230.
Chair is supposedly on it's way from Austintown, manager at store is supposed to call when it arrives.
My issue is that instead of just saying hey the new shipment will be here Wednesday, if by chance we get one in before than we will give you a call but otherwise see you then.
Instead you have sales associates making unrealistic promises, I appreciate that he was trying to please the customer but I still have no chair, an angry husband and a ruined day.

Read moreI was at the Big lots on South avenue. And there was an open box return.. and it was marked like every other merchandise at 5% off. I politely asked the assistant manager that was working in the furniture department if that was the final discount. Being that it was an open box return. I have never in my life been treated so badly by an employee for asking a question. I have shopped at that store for 20 years and have never been disrespected and been called a cheapskate for asking a simple question by an employee in my life. I do not want these folks to lose their job. But that assistant manager that was working the other day should not be in a position of power.
