Haymarket — Local services in Boston

This is THE spot where you get dirt cheap produce in Boston that didn't sell in the supermarkets! I routinely find bargains here: 10 apples, pears, or maybe oranges for $2, a bag of 3 heads of romaine lettuce for a dollar, a pack of Kumato or Campari tomatoes for a buck ...

BRING CASH. No other method of payment will be accepted! If you come by car, park in Parcel 7 garage and bring your ticket to one of the vendors to validate it with a stamp (if the one you ask can't, they'll know which one can). This will reduce your fee for parking in that garage to $3, as long as you park there for less than 3 hours.

One thing to be aware of when you come here: some folks are selling produce that is spoiling or on the verge of spoiling, quite openly. That's part of the deal with such a last-stop market. Check out carefully what you want to buy. If you are good at picking out produce, you will do well here.

Also - this is not the friendliest, pleasantest atmosphere to shop in. It can get crowded and it's out of doors and exposed to the weather (though bless them, even on the hottest and coldest of Fridays and Saturdays they still come out to sell their products!). Many of the vendors will be short and brusque with you. They are working hard and trying to get rid of their produce quickly, and they generally don't engage in all the customer service niceties you may be used to in a conventional supermarket. A few of them are racist. I avoid those guys (btw they're all guys, the racist ones). Most of them, however, are honest, hardworking people who will readily hand you a bag to start gathering the produce you want to buy, even if they don't exactly say hi to you in the process.

All in all, if you can tolerate the lack of creature comforts of conventional markets, you can really score here. My food costs are way lower since I started shopping here, and I eat tons of fruit and veggies as a result....

Haymarket is a historical place situated at the heart of Boston downtown. It has a lot of century old bars and pubs. The architectures are preserved and is a part of freedom trail. It can be accessible through public transport and there is substation there. One of the attraction is the weekend street market having very cheap vegetables, fruits and fish. It accept only cash and get few dollars before you come. The street market is open for every Fridays and Saturdays untill sunset and the sunset time the closing time irrespective of the season. Most of the stuffs are really cheap and you can get 1lb for $1 !. Only thing to worry is to carefully select the items as it may have spoiled/damaged stuffs too. Most of them are good to go for few days and can't store for a long as these stuffs are already border line good stuffs. You get all sort of vegetables and fruits here sometimes Asian vegetables too. The pricing towards the end of Saturday, it will become even more cheaper. The Palace is too crowded during the street market. Other than the weekend street market, there is a public market in which you can get all fresh items including food. This market is called Boston public market. There is a public garage available near for parking. And Next to the Haymarket, there are alot of eateries, well maintained public parks and famous pastries, seafood restaurant are also available. Hey Mark, it has been one of the best places that I’ve ever shopped at on the weekends on the market days since I’ve been a child enjoy interacting with individuals, farmers fishermen, and sellers from all over clay prices. Great people wanted to bring the goods to great people absolutely enjoy shopping, and Haymarket also the New Market that they put in the Haymarket garage, so great to create ice cream places, delis and nuts and many more little crafty shops. It’s a day if you decide to spend your day in Haymarket high traffic area, good energy variety of cultures, people and businesses. Also can get your vehicle parked in the garage discounted.
