Boston Exploration | Spin Boston – A Ping Pong Bar with Cocktails 🥃
__
Came for a company event. Naturally, people divide into groups that actually play ping pong and groups that just mingle and eat. There are food stations, as well as staff who come around with hors d'oeuvre. They take your plates and any trash as well, but it would have been more convenient if there were trash cans/a dedicated tray area so that you don’t have to wait around. However, the staff was very diligent on keeping the place clean throughout the night, so thank you! The food was average: - The flatbread tastes better fresh. - The chicken and waffles were my favorite. - The samosas weren’t bad either. - The shrimp tacos were very cute. - The sliders were heavy and didn’t seem to be a crowd favorite, but if you’re hungry, they would be the most filling. - The macarons were good, and there were a handful of flavors. At one point, there was a guy taking drink orders behind the bar, but he didn’t actually work there, which was weird. It gets pretty loud, so it’s hard to have conversations without shouting, but that is expected, as the place is big enough to accommodate several large parties.

I was a guest at a company event on 1/11/2024 - so no comment on prices. I came for the Ping Pong and it did not disappoint. We had I believe nine tables available which was just right for consistently finding space to play. Tons of balls available and there were consistently people taking them off the floor. Sufficient amount of space around the tables and all the equipment was great quality and mostly in great shape. The star of the show in terms of service was the guy running a tournament for us, on his feet for several hours and on the mic nonstop announcing and changing goals on-the-fly to make sure the tournament finished roughly on time. I didn't get his name but he was awesome, he deserves a bonus!

Food: Service for food was also great and the staff kept the place extremely clean during such a busy event. Shoutout again to amazing staff. The food IMO was far too heavy on cheese and not a suitable replacement for dinner, neither in quantity nor ingredients. I would suggest guests for a company event have a light meal beforehand, then take some time to digest and play ping pong a bit later. I had to eat some leftovers later to fill me up. I didn't drink so I can't comment on the alcohol, but there was water readily available everywhere. I was trying to avoid getting sick and would have preferred food with more bread, vegetables, and/or fruit. I will say the seared peppers were quite nice.

Other random comments: The DJ was better than average. The speakers were club volume which I'm not a fan of; my ears are ringing today and I could hardly hear anyone except (thankfully) for the announcer. The coat check was efficiently-run. The restrooms have an unusual layout with a central hand washing area connected to the separated male, female, and gender-neutral rooms. I saw several people getting confused walking in there, but once one got used to it, it's actually practical. I think signage could be improved somehow (maybe just "ALL RESTROOMS"? It's not really a huge problem though) and in addition, would suggest putting a sign separating parties because there was nothing indicating multiple parties were happening at once and one could easily accidentally walk into another space with no clue that it's not allowed.

Thanks management...

Our team of 73 international athletes had an amazing time at SPIN in Boston, MA. Despite initial worries about space constraints, Garage Alley turned out to be a perfect fit for our group. The manager, Marquis, was a superb host. He efficiently assisted us with our wrist bands and promptly directed us to our designated area.

Joe, the kitchen captain, also went above and beyond to cater to our dietary restrictions and meal concerns. He ensured that each athlete's needs were met, delivering exceptional customer service that truly elevated our overall experience.

Both Marquis and Joe were attentive and responsive to our questions and needs, making us feel valued and at ease. We are eagerly anticipating future collaborations with SPIN, as our experience was truly unforgettable.

Our only recommendation is to broaden the menu to include halal options for all guests.

We express our gratitude on behalf of the Sports Visitor Program, a part of the U.S. Department of State's Sports...
