I visited Breck Outfiters browsing for a hat, there was a wide range of prices on the tags ranging from $29.95 to about $50. I picked one within my price range, this being $29.95, and approached the cashier. At checkout they informed me my total was $38.05, which I found a bit steep for tax so I asked for the receipt. Looking at it, I saw they had charged the hat as $34.95. I had specifically chosen a my hat based on the pre-marked price, so I approached the cashier and inquired about that. The cashier simply shrugged at me and brushed it off as “nah the price on the tag is just marked wrong”. I couldn’t believe it, there were no signs on the store or any mention of the “price tags” being wrong. And if that was the case, I would expect the cashier to point this out and ask if the customer would like to proceed with the purchase before swiping the card so willingly and then brushing off the price difference as a “mistake”. I will not be returning to this fishing store regrettably, and I hope management finds my comment in order to correct either a clear ripoff from an employee, or their pricing/marking system as this is clearly not fair to customers. The final price of the hat was almost $10 over the original price I had picked it for. I’m really unhappy and distressed after visiting this store (all sales are final as well), please be sure to double check the price of the items you purchase here before handing over your card. Unbelievable.

Went this past Tuesday with Adam and our other group member went with Brennan. Colorado river was too high, Adam called before hand to see if we would do Antero Reservoir. Couldn't have been happier with the location. Our first time trout fishing in Colorado. Adam handled two noobs in his boat getting both of us large trout landed. Spending 8 hours with someone you hope for a good personality. Adam provided conversation the whole time from the drive spotting animals, explaining mountain passes/roads, and real estate. History of every place we passed? No problem for Adam. I had questions about everything we drove past for an hour.... Basically got an awesome Colorado tour guide included. Out of charters I have taken all over the United States and South America, this was hands down the most enjoyable experience. Mainly because of the people(I could have not landed a fish and still had a blast). Stopped by the shop the day before left for schwag and the guys working the counter there were equally passionate about fishing/environment. Thanks Adam and Brennan and Shop.

I had a great experience with our guide, Tony DiPaola. My wife and I went to Colorado to visit some friends for Labor Day weekend. Travis, my wife's friend's husband, decided he and I would go fly fishing. I know little about fly fishing, but I loved the idea. Travis set up a guided adventure through Breckenridge Outfitters. This ended up being a magnificent decision. Our guide, as previously mentioned, was Tony. An absolutely fantastic person. We spent eight hours on the water, and he did a great job. Tony and I clicked, almost, immediately. It helped that we both have a background in healthcare. He did a great job guiding, teaching, and keeping the day active and interesting. I have been infected with an insatiable desire to fly fish now. I blame Tony and Travis. I have a feeling my life is going to get expensive. If you want to try fly fishing and want a great guided experience, call Breckenridge Outfitters and set something up. Ask for Tony as a guide. If he's not available, they have other guides. It will be the experience/adventure of a lifetime.

TYSON to the rescue ! I will start by saying I, like most, can be fast to criticize and slow to compliment , that isn’t the case here. Being from Florida I have more than ample opportunities to fish but I’ve never fished in Colorado. I booked a half day with this outfitter based on their strong review history and in summary a 5 start review doesn’t do them justice, please allow me to explain why. Let’s start with the guide I was assigned, Lance. He called me 3x prior to our appointment to gather information on what I was hoping to accomplish and get a feel for my abilities and experience. I will say I’m by no means an expert but have fly fished for 10 years with experience in Steelhead, large Brown Trout, Bass and 1 successful Tarpon in Mexico so I needed a guide to introduce me to these little guys. With the communication Lance provided I knew I’d booked the RIGHT OUTFITTER.Then it happened , Lance took ill the afternoon prior to our trip ( serious requiring hospitalization) and I got a call from Tyson who couldn’t be more apologetic to inform me. For the first time ever, they were forced to cancel a clients trip. That’s not where my experience with Breckinridge Outfitters ends , but where it begins. Tyson ( Owner ?) stepped up BIG TIME. He recognized I had enough experience to fish on my own , suggested I do so and set me up with everything I needed .I brought only a rod and reel , the rest of the high quality Orvis and Simms gear was provided compliments of Breckinridge Outfitters . The most important thing Tyson give me was information on where to go , right down to putting GPS information in my phone to be sure I found the destination. It was spot on and I caught 11 Rainbow plus 1 Brown Trout in a days fishing. To say I was treated as a friend not a client is an understatement and they have earned a customer for life , based on my experience I’m quite certain I’m not the only one. Thank You , Breckinridge Outfitters. And Lance , I hope your feeling better, we will complete our trip another day. Daniel Martin Palm...

I wanted to share with you my experience booking a guided trip with Chip Swanson on November 7th. I’ve been flyfishing for 20 years and wanted to take out my daughter’s boyfriends one who has been fishing for a few years and another who had never been fishing. I’ve never been able to do a trip like this so is extra special pull it off this year and two bring these two young men out with me.

From parking the truck to where we were fishing Chip was engaging, answering all sorts of questions from three very excited individuals. He went over what to expect, the type of water, what species we were fishing for, different techniques and about every topic you can think of to get us prepared for the day.

He Quickly had me out fishing while he was setting up Bradley (he’s fished for some years) and the entire time sharing the whats and whys . They it was Isaiah’s turn (never been fly fishing) and he spent time teaching him to cast and explaining how to look for a strike... sure enough, first cast ever with a fly rod and BOOM!! FISH ON!!

We spent a solid six hours on fish , learning a laughing like young school kids. It was something my Dad heart needed. We couldn’t have asked for a better guide. Not only was Chip amazing at putting us on fish, he’s an amazing teacher with a true passion for sharing what fly fishing is all about. Chips is engaging, beyond knowledgeable, incriskied at his craft and on top of that hilarious! Between the fish, missed strikes, “FISH ON” yells and the laughs we couldn’t have been blessed with a more perfect day.

We did find out that that Chip was chosen as the Orvis freshwater guide of the year for 2109. That just added to the cool factor! Hopefully he is nominated again next year!

Thank you Breckenridge Outfitters and Chip Swanson for putting together an amazing trip that for me was something I’ve wanted to to for a very long time. It was everything hoped for and more. ...

Let me just say that the experience we had with a two day guided fly fishing trip with Breckenridge Outfitters was absolutely incredible. I have been on countless guided trips for both hunting and fishing over the years, and the experience that our guide Freddy provided was the best I have EVER experienced. It was a cold snowy two days in March and Freddy adjusted to get us out of the wind. Yes we caught more than our fair share of fish, but thats what this review is about. Freddy went out of his way to make our trip not just enjoyable, but also educational. We learned more about fly fishing techniques and the Colorado Fishery than we ever thought we would. Most guides try to get you on the fish and end the trip exactly on time or before and treat the trip like any other. Freddy had a way to make our trip feel special. We fished a little longer than normal and had an outstanding experience. If you like to read books about how to take care of a client, read a book called The Fred Factor by Mark Sunburn. It a great little book that I like to incorporate in my business as well. Although there is no relation, our guide was named Freddy. He went out of his way to make this a special trip. His years of experience and dedication to his craft shined are a testament to Freddy and Breckenridge Outfitters. We could tell this was his profession and he wanted to "pass it on" as much as he could. We will definitely be back just to fish with him again. There is a reason this shop is continually recognized by Orvis as a top level provider. Thanks for a great experience Tony Holt Owner Zbranek & Holt Custom Homes in...
