This used to be our favorite place in Breckenridge for many reasons- the smiles behind the bar, the food was amazing, and they had a great selection of beer and alcohol. We've been going for a while- it used to be called Oscars I believe- but we frequented it every summer and every winter as my husband's family has a house in Breckenridge.
We went twice last week while in town. Both times were absolutely horrendous experiences. The primary reason is that the service is outright offensive. The first time we came, there were two bartenders behind the bar, two servers in the front room, and not one person acknowledged our presence. We noted we were not alone in this sentiment as other tables were getting up themselves to grab menus off the bar area since no one had greeted them either. While seated at the bar for 10 minutes, I asked one of the bartenders if we could get a couple of beers- he refused to look at us and asked us what we wanted while looking away. Legitimately no eye contact at all. We had to beg him again to take our food order- once the food cam it was SO MUCH WORSE than prior years. Zero pride in the food anymore. It is still OK, but not great.
The next night we came back thinking maybe we just had back luck- like I said, it WAS our favorite place in Breckenridge for years. We walk in the front door, still no greeting, as if we are ghosts. We walk to the back bar to see if there are spots and see that there are a bunch of condiments blocking the bar. We come back to the front to ask one of the bartenders if those spots were available to sit at - he rudely replied "You can do what you want, I don't really go back there." Again, no eye contact. A table got up as this was happening so we sat there but were shocked at how we were treated. Following that, we ordered two expensive whiskeys from the same guy - the cherries in the whiskeys were so bad I thought I was going to vomit. They were definitely spoiled. I didn't dare tell our server for fear they would spit in our food. That's how we felt the whole time we were there. We only stayed because we were starving and didn't want to wait anywhere else.
All this being said- I hope the owner reads this. I know it is hard to find good help these days, but honestly, we don't plan on coming back which makes us sad since it had such a special place in our hearts. Both times, we saw other people jaw dropped at the behavior towards them- some servers were indifferent, others were rude for no reason- for simply asking for a menu. Honestly shocked and saddened. We ate at Legends Steakhouse and Modis the two nights prior and had excellent service.
And just for context, I put myself through college and law school waiting tables in Dallas and Chicago- I've been in the service industry and I know how to treat others on both side of the coin. Really hope this place can pull it together, but it wasn't surprising why this place wasn't packed as usual.

Read moreAs my partner and I walked in, we were greeted, & told we could take a seat anywhere. It was a lovely sunny day in breck, so we made our way to the patio, where there was only one available table left(in the shade). We sat there for roughly 5 minutes before even being acknowledged, and instead of an introduction or "can I get you started with a drink?!" The server (Courtney) started with "you guys aren't doing food today or anything are you?"... As a server I found this incredibly rude because in fact we were there for food, as well as beverages! When a sunnier located table opened up, we moved to said table before it was fully cleared- as we didn't want another incoming group to take the table first. We helped stack the cups, and get it ready to be cleared off... another 10 minutes goes by and the server once again, did not acknowledge us, or even say a word as she takes handful by handful of dishes, instead of just getting a bus tub to clear the table. How hard would it have been to ask us if she could get us started with a drink while she continued clearing the table? No joke, NOT A SINGLE WORD spoken... How awkward! I had to ASK if we could order drinks, as well as food. As a breck local, and server myself, I found her level of service to be inexcusable, and think that she might be better off in a position other than the service industry. Even on a rough day, I'd have better service skills than that. I MIGHT be willing to give this place another try, but left feeling pretty disappointed. :(

Read moreMixed experience. First visit Great! Delicious wings. Tacos were good too. Enjoyed a pint of 'on Tap' hazy beer. Nice atmosphere, though the room temperature was a little cool. Decided to go back to enjoy it again ....But - 2nd visit not so great ....we couldn't download the beer list and were served small 13oz glasses of 'Hazy' beer ( tasted good) which we discovered when the bill came, were 10 dollars a go !!!!!! ... and on checking back at the condo we saw were from a can !!!! Canned beer in a taphouse !?!?!?! Not good😳😕 .We had asked for a pint and were told it didn't exist .... Though we had drunk it a few nights before. The server obviously didn't know what was available. It was late and we were tired so we didn't have the energy to debate it with her ....😕😢 The chef was obviously different as the wings were ok but no where near as delicious as the first time. On top of that it was FREEZING !!!!❄️❄️❄️❄️❄️😳 We ate with our coats, hats and scarves on ..... So ... check the temperature out before sitting, and go to the bar to make sure you order a decent drink of you can't download the beer list and your server is not clear on what is available ... Sorry Tap House ....you need servers who know the beer menu, and able to talk it through properly with the customer you are promoting yourself as a ' Tap House afterall. Get the heat sorted out, and consistency with...
