TLDR: Koop Diamond Cutters is the only place I will consider for any jewelry or repair in the future. They have secured a customer for life.
So here is the Story…
Last year I decided that it was time to ask my now fiance to marry me. When I was a kid I found a really beautiful garnet gemstone and eventually I realized I would love to make it into an engagement ring one day when I found the right person. I started the process of finding someone who could cut the stone, and make a custom piece of jewelry and it turns out that was a much more difficult task than I was prepared for. It seemed like we would not be able to find anyone local (and shopping local is important to us) that would be able to have the connections for cutting stones or work with us to make a custom piece within our budget. In comes Koop Diamond Cutters. Not only do they have domestic connections for stone cutting but they were so willing to help me work within my budget without ever trying to upsell me beyond what I could afford. Beyond that, they were excited to take this on as a creative project.
While it turns out that the stone I had was not of sufficient quality to cut down and put into a ring, they were still able to turn it cut it into a beautiful secondary piece. A beautiful gold rimmed cab with a bail on top to make it into a necklace. My wife-to-be will always have a piece of that stone that holds a lot of sentimental value, even if it isn’t in the ring on her finger. They also worked with us to make sure that we got the garnets of color and quality that we wanted for the final product. The amount of excitement, expertise and creative thinking that Koop displayed made me happy to spend my money with them, and I’m no big fan of spending my money.
As mentioned this stone holds an immense amount of sentimental value to me, and they treated it with so much respect and made it more beautiful than I ever imagined someone could. Beyond that, as a small business owner myself Justin Koop has offered me a master class in customer service. The entire ring making process was fairly long, as we took time to consider what we wanted for the ring and having to problem solve along the way (there were many changes of plan through the process). Never once did Justin get impatient with us, and was in fact the biggest cheerleader for our project simply because he enjoys what he does and was excited to see this project come to life. Morgan, who manages the front counter also helped us with some critical decisions with her own expertise and experience.
I cannot overstate how much we both love the final products that we received and how welcoming and wonderful the people at Koop Diamond Cutters are. If shopping local matters to you, and you want to work with people who not only are great at what they do, but also enjoy what they do. Please call Koop Diamond Cutters. I’m excited to start working on my wedding band...
Read moreI walked into Koop Diamond Cutter without prior experience buying an engagement ring. I showed Morgan some photos that I had saved that I knew my girlfriend liked and Morgan showed me settings they had that were similar. I picked out a couple that were closest to what I thought were the best. Morgan gave me plastic ring size gauges to use to figure out the right size for the ring and passed my info on to Justin, whom was with another customer.
Justin followed up via email with ballpark specs and price for options within my budget and answered some questions I had about clarity and color ratings. I met in person with Justin to look at examples and talk about the setting. I liked the settings they had on hand, but didn’t love them. Justin told me some changes they could make for the setting I liked before I even asked. The changes he talked about were exactly what took the setting form one I liked to one I loved. Just gave me a date one when I could expect to have a ring by and I left.
I was a little nervous that the setting wasn’t exactly perfect and followed up, asking about going thinner. Justin recommend not going any thinner for strength integrity and ensured me that it would look plenty thin. I wasn’t 100% sure, but trusted Justin.
As soon as Morgan opened the box when I went to pick up the ring, it was beyond perfect! It was more beautiful than I thought a ring could be. I thought for a slight second that it looked too amazing too be the ring I was buying and that they mixed up the ring. They allowed me to use use multiple forms of payment, which let me take the fullest advantage my credit...
Read moreFantastic experience from start to finish from Justin, Morgan and the team! I reached out to multiple gem cutters across the Midwest, attempting to get an opal I owned custom cut and set in a ring. Most didn't respond to my inquiries through their own websites. The ones that eventually responded ultimately declined the service. Much to my surprise, within a hour of me submitting the inquiry on Koop's site I had a response back from Justin himself, acknowledging they could complete the service without issue. Despite the complexity of the request, the cost of the service was extremely reasonable and could be completed with 2-3 weeks. I drove out to Cincinnati myself to meet Justin in person and better explain what I was trying to achieve. Very personable and knowledgeable about his craft. He reiterated the price and completion time, and true to his word the ring was done 2 weeks later. They shipped it back to me sparing me another 2 hour drive. The ring is beautiful and my wife was thrilled! Quality craftsmanship and old-school pride in your work on display in the finished product, even better than I expected. I can't say enough good things about this business. This place creates one-of-a-kind art. There are 100s of jewelry stores you can go to if you want something trendy and cookie-cutter, but if you want something truly unique, Koop's Diamond Cutters needs to be your...
