It's expensive but it's near me, and my go-to, and the food is quality. The one thing that drives me absolutely insane about this store is how many plastic bags they use. I'm guessing management is pushing the employees to use plastic bags with the logo instead of paper because I can't tell you how many times I've asked for paper and they don't "hear" me. Tonight they started using plastic before I could ask for paper. I didn't want to be high maintenance. So, I asked if they would just not bag the two remaining items because I could carry them and they put them in another plastic bag anyway. I realize that I live in Missouri and that their typical customer is not going to be concerned with plastic use, but it's gotten to a point where I dread checking out because I have to emphasize it or talk through it everytime. I'm going to start bringing my own bag and hope they don't find a way to wrap things in plastic before putting them in there, but somehow I wouldn't be surprised if...
Ā Ā Ā Read moreGood produce, but not good customer communication. I bought peanut butter this morning and when I reached the register there was no one there. A lady from the staff saw me and told me she will be right with me. While waiting for her I picked plastic ware set that was near the belt. When the lady came she asked me if I got the plastic ware from the cup near the belt and I said yes. She then replied āDonāt ever reach behind the plastic wall again!ā I apologized but later I realized that I didnāt deserve to be talking to with that attitude and tone of her. I simply didnāt know and no sign was there so I can ask for that plastic ware to be added to my order. She couldāve explain that to me without that attitude and bossy tone. I donāt I will go there again, and their prices are high too compared to other store. Just ruined my morning. Totally...

EXCELLENT butcher with great selection of meats and fish. Very fresh fruit and produce and a nice little bakery area. EASY to get in and out quickly. That said, Straub's is an institution in St. Louis and not everyone will enjoy it for a couple reasons: 1) Prices are high. Few things are cheap here. People come here for quality and not price. Steaks are excellent, but priced higher than other stores. 2) Building is rather old and dated. 3) While I've never had a problem finding a parking spot, the one-lane front row parking may mean you have to wait for someone coming or going. OVERALL: EXCELLENT...
