I was hesitant to write this review as I was previously employed with this company, and I do not wish for it to be written off as a scorned ex-employee. I want to clarify that I am writing this review as a customer, not as an employee, as it has been a significant time between now and my departure from the company.
With that being said, I am going to move on to what brings me to write this review today. I want to preface this by saying I am quite familiar with the theft and shrinkage issues this store experiences, and I understand that their policies are meant to minimize that. However, this store has taken loss prevention procedures to an extreme. Almost every single time I visit the store, I feel as though I am being treated like I am stealing or am going to steal. I am always followed around the store by at least one employee, if they are not directly next to me doing a terrible job of fake-reorganizing a display, they’re standing around awkwardly staring at me from the end of the aisle. It’s not subtle at all and it really seems like it’s not meant to be. During a recent trip, I noticed five separate employees shadowing me until I left - without purchasing anything I had grabbed - because of how uncomfortable it made me feel. I was there for less than fifteen minutes before I felt compelled to leave.
I am sure I am not only speaking for myself when I say that I do not appreciate whatsoever being treated like a thief simply because I entered a store. As I mentioned previously, the feeling of constant surveillance and the implications that I am doing something wrong makes for an extremely uncomfortable and unwelcoming experience. I have set down many potential purchases to walk out of the store because of the treatment and attitude I have experienced. I have no desire to continue visiting and purchasing from a company that cannot treat me with basic respect and kind reception when I visit their facilities. While I am understanding of the theft issues at this store, it is unacceptable to be training - and encouraging - employees to treat customers this way. Loss prevention policies are clearly taking priority over the comfort and satisfaction of customers, which is...
Read moreIf I could give them no stars I would. I was here visiting from Washington and I love TjMaxx and Marshals. I brought a pair of pants with me with my receipt because they didn't fit well and I figured I was going to eventually come to a tjmaxx or marshals here in Oregon on my visit and look for something different to exchange them too. As soon as my friend and I walked into the door the employees were just following us around. We were the only Mexicans at the store at the moment and speaking spanish and I hate to always jump to conclusions but I know that's why they were only following us. It seemed like all the employees all of a sudden had all the time just to follow us through every single aisle and talk amongst each other looking over at us and then sending one of them to ask us every couple of minutes if they could help us find something and walk right by us. The same employee asked us all like 3 or 4 times after we had told her no thank you and that we were good. I've worked retail before, I know what they assumed we were going to steal (even though I had a fanny pack on LOL). They made us feel super uncomfortable, I didn't even purchase anything because it was so...
Read moreI went to browse around tj maxx tonight and had the worst experience. It was about 8:50 when I walked thru the door and by 9 they announced they would be closing at 9:30 which is totally understandable. I felt rushed to get out of the door when I heard an employee talking over her little head set saying “we need to get these people out of here”. That is very unprofessional. They are there to work and according to google they don’t close until 9:30pm. So that means doors shouldn’t be locked until then….they should focus on making sure all there closing tasks are done so they can lock doors at the time they are suppose to instead of walking around talking like that. Please address this situation with your staff. Also I highly suggest you remove that woman from the front who was irresponsible and irritated as she should not be socializing with customers or working...
