Was effectively kidnapped by ER staff. I went seeking assistance for a mental health emergency. I was taken from my family in the ER, stripped of all of my belongings, and put in an empty room for 6 hours.
I wasnāt in a mental state to communicate for myself at the time. My emergency was not taken serious. No one notified my family in the waiting room as to what was happening, or have them come back as a mediator. I was very obviously having issues communicating. After reading my discharge papers I was labeled as coming with āfriend.ā No⦠my brother and sister in law brought me. No one came to talk to them. None of us were asked anything of the sort.
I briefly recall, as I went in and out of lucidity, my nurse speaking of not trying hard as it was her last week. Which is exactly what I want to hear. Thanks Mikayla! Glad to know UPMC hires horrible employees.
When I had finally spoken to a psychiatrist, I was told to double dose my medications until I could seek counsel outside of the ER. After finally speaking to an actual professional, not associated with UPMC, I was told the recommendation was incredibly dangerous and shouldnāt have been followed under any circumstance.
I am honestly considering taking legal action at the disgusting dehumanizing experience, and insanely negligent medical advice and care. I was in for potential self harm, and was actually given instruments to follow through by staff while under their care. DO NOT GIVE SELF HARM PATIENTS STRAWS! Who honestly runs this place?
Avoid this hospital at all costs if you want to live. Definitely do NOT seek mental help from this place. Itās a disaster. Itās extremely uncomfortable writing this review, as this is all very personal. If this review can save a single life by steering patients in need of mental care away from this hospital then it...
Ā Ā Ā Read moreI went into the ER two days in a row. If it wasn't for Dr. Dougherty and Nurse Ashley, I would be giving a 1 star rating. I got them on the first day I went in with really severe back pain. They checked on me frequently and genuinely cared about my well being. You can tell they love what they do. They made sure I was comfortable and taken care of. When I was given medicine by Ashley, she stayed with me until I felt comfortable enough to be alone. I must have had 4 different people including the Dr and nurse checking on me every 15-20 minutes. The second day I have to go in, I was "greeted" by Nurse Dom- he took my weight and just proceeded to walk away with no direction. He was extremely condescending in his questions and seemed frustrated with anything that I answered. The nurse Shelah, acted like she had better things to do than answer my questions. I was given a gown that was too small, was never offered a sheet, and she gave me medication without warning of how it could make me feel. She administered it quickly and when I told her I was feeling funny she said "that will go away", when I told her that I was feeling really dizzy she just repeated "that will go away", and them left me there even though I wasn't feeling ok. The doctor, dr Bordas, took all kinds of tests. When he came back he barely brought himself in the room to tell me that I had Covid without any other test results. Had I not requested the possibility of the covid treatment he would have just sent me home with nothing. These two experiences were night and day. I am not one to leave a comment but I think its important for Dr. Dougherty and Nurse Ashley to be recognized for their amazing work. The other staff should understand the impact of their presence, especially when you are scared in...

Unfortunately when rushing to an ER we didnāt take the time to read reviewsā¦.. we got to the hospital with my wife bleeding from a cut that required attention and were admitted to a room immediately⦠she had a paper towel wrapped around the injury⦠a triage nurse came in and gave it a look handed her a gauze pad and said to hold it on the injuryā¦. He told us who the Doctor on duty was and who are nurse would be⦠after an hour passed I began to inquire when she might be seen⦠we were told they only had one Doctor and he was seeing other patients⦠still never saw a nurse⦠after another half hour I asked if maybe we should go to the AHN North Hospital down the road and weāre told it would be the same or worse there⦠and she was next to be seen⦠another half hour passed and still nothing⦠we were at two hits now.. and finally a nurse came in and offered pain meds⦠now we understand the more critical patients had to be seen first⦠but there were not that many patients even in the ER most rooms were empty⦠another half hour passed and we gave up and left for the other hospital⦠we arrived at AHN North in Wexford and were sent to a room immediately the Nurses began to address the room at once⦠within five minutes the doctor was in the room⦠the nurses continued to prep her and within twenty minutes she was being stitched up⦠Back to reviews read them⦠a few glowing reviews but many more have had the same type of experience we had⦠the staff at UPMC Cranberry had no business telling us that AHN North would be as long or worse of a wait⦠we were effectively held hostage for two and a half hoursā¦. I hope that this helps save other people from the same disturbing treatment. If Zero Stars were available that would be the...
