Marshalls — Local services in Dublin

I don’t usually write reviews, but my experience at this location was uncomfortable enough that I felt the need to share. It was my first time shopping here, and I left without buying anything not because of the merchandise, but because of the environment.

While near the dressing room, I overheard someone, later identified as Anami, training another employee very loudly. The trainee clearly had a language barrier and seemed underprepared. As a customer, I shouldn’t have been able to hear this exchange, especially given the harsh tone she was using. It made not only me uncomfortable, but also a male customer waiting outside the dressing room, his body language clearly reflected this.

This kind of behavior is very unprofessional. Having been a manager myself and trained employees with language barriers, I understand the challenges, but it’s important to never make your employee or customers feel uncomfortable. Patience and respect should always be prioritized, and that was lacking here.

Later, I saw her casually chatting with another associate, which further gave me the impression that she didn’t want to be inconvenienced by having to train someone who didn’t speak perfect English. While I understand retail environments can be stressful, the situation was upsetting to witness, and it seemed more like indifference than stress.

Unfortunately, this experience has made me decide not to shop at this...

Bargain Hunting Day in Marshalls - Episode 1!

My significant other loves a good bargain hunt, so we set off on a little tour of Marshalls east of San Francisco. Our first stop was the Castle Square Shopping Center in Danville.

Now, to be honest, I’m not the most patient shopper. I usually go in with a specific goal, grab what I need, and then leave. I know that I could save a bit more money by browsing for longer, but that’s just not my style.

That being said, this Marshalls location impressed me. It was clean, well-organized, and definitely better stocked than some of the ones I’ve visited in San Francisco. The aisles weren’t cluttered, and everything was easy to navigate—this is a huge plus for me.

My partner found a few items she was happy with, and surprisingly, I didn’t feel like I was waiting around forever, which is quite an achievement.

Driving by, stopped in at Marshalls. We thought the clothing might be a little more upscale than TJMaxx, though we knew they're the same company. No difference in quality from what we saw, except Marshalls had less designer clothes than TJMaxx in Livermore that we'd visited several days ago. Could be that there's more traffic at this Dublin Marshalls, but we felt the inventory was lower overall. Lots of make-up & toiletries, though. Not particularly organized, which makes it hard & a bit frustrating to shop there. Got a good buy on some throw pillows & large bath towels. Some interesting snacks & candies, some at good prices from what we've seen, would make for a nice gift basket. Cashier was pleasant & chatty, store seemed clean, but could use some updating. Didn't see a jewelry counter like at TJMaxx, which was disappointing. We'll give it another try, but if things stay the same, will probably...
