I post a fair amount of reviews but have NEVER given a one star review. Until now.
Amazon and Staples have worked out a situation where Staples accepts Amazon returns. It is convenient for me to run things over to staples, and as a business owner, I will usually grab some supplies from the store. It should be a win-win for everyone.
The issue is that the employees of this store are hostile to anyone who comes in to make a return. They aren't just rude, they are openly hostile. They exhibit open distain for customers like me, who would make some purchases and keep them in a job if they would just grin and bear it.
Instead, I have been driving an extra 20 minutes and paying a dollar an item to drive to the Oberlin UPS store to make my returns. It is that bad.
Unfortunately, the Oberlin UPS store closed suddenly and I was forced back to the store to see employees who would treat me as if I had just kicked their cat. So after dreading the thing for days and putting it off, I had an item that was at Amazon's return deadline. Reluctantly, I drove to Staples only to find that they weren't accepting returns that day (see pic). This caused me to miss my return window. The store was open. There were plenty of employees around to berate me and generally act like petulant children, but I guess it was just too much that day.
I eventually talked to amazon, which agreed to accept the late return. I went to the UPS store in Sheffield. The clerk just rolled her eyes and said that the Elyria Staples refuses to process Amazon returns regularly. She also said that every customer who mentions that store says how rude they are to Amazon/Staples customers.
Guys, you are honestly lucky Amazon hasn't forced you out of business already like many of your competitors. If it wasn't for those returns, the Elyria store would be a ghost town like the rest of the Midway Mall area. Do yourself a favor and do better. A LOT BETTER.
Staples corporate, you have a major problem at the Elyria store that is widely known in our community. Just look at the reviews. Your customers are talking. You'd better address it or risk losing even...
Read moreTwo starts for nice people trying hard, but this is a poor print/copy service. I will not use them again.
I used Staples' online portal for printing of a set of training manuals that I needed for the next day. The results were embarrassingly poor.
My written request was for 10 copies of 40 pages, single sided, B&W with a color cover, comb binding with a blue back. Staples printed the entire document, including the cover, in B&W. This made my document look cheap and unprofessional. The binding was spiral, not comb, which made the manual hard to write in. The printing was double-sided instead of single-sided, which meant I had to scrounge up additional writing pages for my meeting participants. The back cover was the only thing they got right. I did not have time for Staples to re-run the job.
I did get a call to tell me my order was ready earlier than promised, which was kind. Additionally, a staff member showed me that the color error was in Staples portal: although I uploaded a 4 color document, she received only a B&W rendering - so I guess they can't actually make the color copies they advertise. Unfortunately, she did not call to tell me about that discrepancy before she printed the order. She did remove the charge for a color cover -- which indicates that the request for a color cover was available to her. Finally, she told me that "next time" I should bring a letter on my company letterhead to identify myself because my materials are noted as copyrighted on their cover. She looked honestly confused as I explained that the name of the person placing the order (me) and the name on the credit card I was paying with (mine) were the same name listed on the cover as the author and copyright holder (me).
She suggested that "next time," I should drive to Staples and bring them my document on a flash drive and make my print order verbally. Apparently, this Staples is also a technology time-travel portal back to 2005.
"Next time," I will find a professional copy/print...
Read moreThe employee at the Amazon return desk is extremely rude. He had a line formed and he was too busy in a conversation with someone who referred to him as his brother to acknowledge waiting customers or offer help, then this person asked him to split the Rice Krispie treat he was eating while helping customers. The lady in front of me had several returns and he kept saying “you’re all set” rushing the woman to get her done, but yet at same time I’ve never seen anyone move more slowly while working at their job. When it was my turn he never looked at me or offered help so I walked up to counter and greeted him and he never said a word, so I showed him my phone and he scanned it and never said anything to me. He then said “you’re all set” then acted extremely annoyed when I asked for a receipt for my return. I have no idea why this store is even still open other than to accept Amazon returns, I would never shop with a store with such terrible service. This employee was a truly poor representation of...
