The pictures online are very deceiving. This place is pretty run down and in major need of renovation. The pool and “lazy river” looked murky and like it wasn’t being treated. All of these things said I was willing to overlook the conditions for the price considered and since we were only staying for 2 days. ||We arrived late Friday and were exhausted so once my daughter and I got up to the room I did a quick one over checking for no bedbugs, cockroaches, or anything and went to bed. ||After we woke up the next morning and started moving around and got the lights on is when I saw it. Something brown and smooshed/smeared and on the inside of the comforter that had been up against me all night. I ran through all possible scenarios of if I could have somehow been the one to leave this on the blanket but we did not eat in the room, I changed into clean pajamas before getting into bed, and alas—I did not poop my pants. This stuff was here from someone previous and because it was on the underside of the comforter it clearly means the comforter was not washed and what else might have also been? ||I called down to the office who had no sense of urgency in replacing anything or looking at it because half hour later I called again and asked if she could come up and look at it and bring a new comforter. The girl at front desk brings a folded up comforter “right from the dryer”. And sets it on the table. She says there is no manager on duty and will have to wait until Monday to talk to someone about it. She says she can have housekeeping come and change the sheets too if I’d like. Obviously I say yes because at this point I’m unconvinced any of it was cleaned or changed. ||Housekeeping comes up and changes the sheets and then goes to put the new comforter on. I kid you not when I say this comforter has a giant yellow stain that appears to be urine. At this point I’m feeling like I was being pranked. The housekeeper takes that one away and brings a new seemingly clean comforter and it’s done. ||I really wanted to leave after that but was not sure if they would refund me or not charge that second night and so ended up staying the second night and checking out the next morning. ||I called today to try to speak to the manager who apologized and said the general manager added a 30$ credit to the stay to discount it. I would have much preferred more and am not complaining about the 30$— but why that amount out of anything? I also would have preferred the general manager call me back since I left a note at checkout. ||I guess the cost of having a strangers possible feces rub up against you all night is worth 30$ and an apathetic staff who don’t seem to care much about...
Read moreThe hotel had a moldy odor, it looked absolutely nothing like the pictures. The hallways and room were poorly lit and carpets are worn down throughout.
They attempt to mask the moldy odor with fragrance and somehow the carpet is permanently wet. Wear shoes and try your best not to contract a bacteria from this place. This was all determined in the twenty minutes I was in the hotel.
I went to the front desk to tell them that there was an overpowering odor of mold, I did not show him the pictures I took of the actual mold in room 505. The front desk employees name was Heron and he was extremely nice and apologetic. He could not accommodate our five day stay with another room so he offered a refund. He did everything he could, he is a very nice man and the fact that this hotel is absolutely DISGUSTING is not his fault.
The real problem here was “Mikey” Patel the GM. After Heron, the nice man in the front did everything he could, Mikey called me and told me that he did not smell anything and that Hotels.com was going to charge me. Fun fact everyone: it was not Hotels.com that charged me anything although Mr.Patel had no trouble shifting the blame so he could take more money illegally at that point. I read the fine print and he had no place. He was rude and had absolutely no people skills. I asked about our refund for the $816 and he said it doesn’t matter. Then charged me an additional $305 dollars when his decent employees offered the refund to me in the first place. I disputed that charge with my bank but that left a total of $1,100 on hold while we were 700 miles from home with no hotel for my family to stay in. I’m sure he is the one that is giving the unintelligent canned response to these terrible reviews.
Please do not stay here, not because of my personal interaction with the piece of garbage “GM” who I’ve called corporate about, but because you and your children shouldn’t breathe in mold and sleep on dirty sheets. I’m positive you will contract several infections if you even step foot on the damp moldy carpet with a cut...
Read moreWe stayed at the Sleep Inn in Gatlinburg, TN from May 6th through May 9th, right during the unpredictable “blackberry winter” – we’re talking cold, rain, and sunshine all in the same day! Despite the weather mood swings, our stay was warm and welcoming thanks to the wonderful staff and convenient location.
The hotel may not be the flashiest on the block, but what it lacks in glamour it more than makes up for in service. Shavon at check-in was fantastic – friendly, thorough, and even helped us navigate the Gatlinburg trolley system (pro tip: take the blue or yellow line and get off at the student lodging stop, or you’ll end up on a scenic but lengthy detour to Timberridge Lodge). Heron was also great in the mornings, giving us thoughtful suggestions for lunch or dinner spots and things to see.
The hotel is just a short 7-minute walk to the main strip, but keep in mind that the walk back is uphill – nothing too difficult, but something to be aware of after a long day out.
The pool area was decent. The hot tub was a great spot to relax during the colder evenings and comfortably fits about six people. The lazy river was a nice touch, though at the time of our visit they only had one tube available. The pool itself didn’t seem heated – or at least not to a comfortable temperature – which made it less enjoyable on chillier days.
One small but appreciated perk was the 24/7 hot drinks station in the lobby – coffee, tea, and hot chocolate always available, which is rare these days. Breakfast was also solid: waffles, eggs, sausage (both links and patties), bagels, toast, cereal, yogurt, and oatmeal – enough to start the day off right and hold us over until lunch.
Overall, this hotel offers excellent value, a great location, and a staff that truly cares. We’d happily stay here again and recommend it to anyone looking for a budget-friendly stay in Gatlinburg with easy...
