Honestly, the gym itself is great with lots of great equipment, cheap membership if you’re a Glendale resident, and you can go at off-peak times to avoid loads of people. I’ve been going here for almost two years, but I have had some seriously maddening interactions with particular employees. My boyfriend and I are in our mid-twenties, and on multiple occasions we’ve been treated by some older staff like we’re rude or incapable. We’ve had staff approach us many times within 15 minutes of closing coming up to us informing us that they’re closing soon in an annoyed tone, although we’ve never stayed past closing. Staff has gone as far as to flicker the lights 10+ minutes before closing as a warning they’re closing soon. The gym closes much earlier than many other gyms, and many times I have to workout later in the day due to work. They also turn off various lights and fans 10 minutes early in general — pretty weird and never experienced that at any other gym. If you head out right at closing or right before, you’re likely to get dirty looks from certain employees, as it seems the staff expects to leave early, not at the actual time they close. There was a particular occasion where I moved a bench to a different room because the other was in use, and when I was done I moved some other equipment I’d been using back BEFORE putting the bench back because it was heavy. By the time I came back to move the bench, an employee who was off duty and working out walked past me and shook his head at me, and grabbed the bench before I could and put it back. Naturally, I approached him to let him know thanks but I was gonna move it back myself. He proceeded to ✨ pretend I wasn’t there ✨ even though I approached him 3 separate times. His headphones weren’t blasting, as I saw him casually talking to an older gentleman just a few moments later. Ridiculous. Some of the staff however is super kind, always says hello, and remembers you — honestly, those people, the short distance from where I live, and the equipment is what’s keeping me here. It’s just so weird to me that certain employees get away with some...
Read moreIf you want to deal with rude management this is the place to go, both Ali and Lyn were super rude to me cause I had a service dog with me and I was bringing jinx for months and no one said anything then I got a rude phone call from Lyn saying I can’t bring my Esa animal even tho we was a certified service animal and at the end she was sick and wasn’t eating much so I brought a little food for her to eat and Ali was super rude about it, they pick and choose people cause I saw people on their phones all the time in the gym and wasn’t a problem and I was taking a important phone call that was very quick on the tread mill and was quiet about it and I knew I wasn’t supposed to so I made it quick and Ali made a big deal about it out it’s ok for other people to be on the phone that’s a double standard which isn’t ok, they made me feel super uncomfortable so I ended up leaving and finding a better gym with nicer management that didn’t give me a issue about my service dog, she didn’t make a peep or disturbed people so why harass me it’s cause they are very rude people, and not so stuck up and bitter people that made you feel not welcomed, one of the worst part Lyn said they were not ymca even tho online it says ymca and this situation came up cause I was talking to a front desk person about me being on a list to be able to go to ymca for free and Lyn chimed in with her stuck up attitude and said we are not ymca even tho it clearly said ymca and I tried to call corporate about this whole situation and they didn’t have the decency to call me back so again if you want to deal with rude double standard management you should go here, if you live in Glendale it’s 10 dollars a month which is a good price but I rather go somewhere else and pay a bit more and not get harassed So again if you want to deal with rude stuck up management this is...
Read moreMy family member worked for the city and I had a membership free through that benefit for years during their employment. Tonight, I went in to work out and to my surprise, the membership has not been picked up onto the card on file since this relative since changed employment, but insured the membership was still valid. Apparently not, no biggie, I’ve loved working out here for almost the last ten years, but I was recieved by the most snarky power starved, middle aged receptionist I have EVER met. I was ready to whip out my credit card and just pay for a six month on the spot, cheaper, easier and often my style with gyms. But this woman put such a nasty taste in my mouth, by treating me like some punk 20 year old brat trying to get something for free. I am 32, own my own (brand new) car, travel like a mad woman, and work my butt off. I did not appreciate being treated like an inconvenience when I was really armed to gain a new membership if necessary. My idea is that the only way to send a message is with how you spend your money; so instead of working out there, I am literally driving to another gym to buy a six month membership from them instead. Good luck getting private memberships with that woman’s attitude. Not cool. Not cool at all. Upside: I get to check out a whole new gym...with towel...
