I do very little reviews these days, but I have reviewed some of the best spots in Colorado and California. I recently moved to Glendale with my son, who is crazy for Vietnamese food. One night we were out in the neighborhood and we noticed VI VI pho. Decided to give it a try. Off top, I’ll say Denver and the surrounding metro area is well known for having some of the best Vietnamese and Asian food establishments. VI VI pho tops that list. When you give a restaurant 5 stars, food, of course should be your main focus, but when a place gives you a complete 5 star experience, from the food, to the service and genuine attention to detail. You know right then it’s a place you’ll come back to time and again. We have returned, time after time, and each and every time, we receive the same experience we got the very first time we came in. The young man who serves you, is by far, the absolute finest front of house server I have ever met. His attention to detail. Remembering who you are, the foods you normally order, making new suggestions, and when it’s not crowded, spending time at your table making you feel like you are a part of the family. In the kitchen, his family works tirelessly preparing the absolute finest Vietnamese food. From the different pho they offer. The noodle plates. Rice plates. Their absolutely to die for Vietnamese Egg Rolls and their must try bao. Everything they prepare and serve is a testament to freshness and flavors capped with simplicity. They don’t overstate their food and by no means is anything understated. Everything is fresh and just as it should be. If you are in Glendale and have not tried VI VI, don’t hesitate any further, you deserve the experience. If you live in any of the surrounding metro areas and truly want a full spectrum experience, it is well worth the drive. Not to mention Glendale is a beautiful location and there are things to do before and after your visit to VI VI. One note, I know I’ve given a great deal of hype with this review. The 5 stars is based on food, it’s preparation and flavors combined with the service and experience those elements provide. They are not located in a high rise. They don’t boast some view rivaling the Viewhouse. There are not 75 tables with fine linen and pretentious waiters and atmosphere. Just an honest family making the finest food and service that makes you feel welcomed and cared for. A hard find in the food industry these days.
you are welcome and I am wishing everyone a happy, healthy and safe new...
Read moreOrdered some food to go and when I got home I noticed a leak and there was broth all inside the bag. I immediately checked and the lid was still secured to the container. I called to explain the situation and explained that the container must be faulty and was told they’ve never dealt with that before, and I was instructed to bring back all the food back because other customers have tried to get over on them before. I couldn’t help but be offended as it would be a complete waste of my time to try and get free soup by making a mess with broth in a bag. I explained that I couldn’t make it back over there, and was told that “no offense, but you’d have to come back here for me to make it right” to which I replied “yeah, I’ll probably just never come now” the guy on the phone quickly hung up on me as I asked for his name. I called back immediately and was denied 4 times before they picked up again. I asked the person who answered if he was the person who I just spoke with because I want to leave the persons name who talked to me in the review I’m about to leave to which he responded “it doesn’t matter, we’re a family business. Go ahead and leave a review. We don’t need your business.” Sounds like nepotism to me, I love supporting family owned businesses but refuse to ever go back to Vivo pho as their customer service skills are seriously lacking. What’s really funny is if you look back just a few weeks ago, there’s a bad review about a broth container leaking. Yet “they’ve never dealt with this before” is what I what I was told when I told them the container must be faulty. TLDR: They accused me of trying to get over on them when I had broth leak...
Read moreI have to preface with the fact that I grew up with a Vietnamese Chef as a mother, so my palate and tastes for authentic Vietnamese cuisine is quite...snobby. Especially something as staple as pho, I really expect true authenticity to the broth and meats. Heck, I even order in Vietnamese because the workers seem to enjoy getting to speak frankly with a guest in their native tongue.
Now, with that out the way, I freaking love Vivi Pho. This is the only pho place I go to in Denver, and that’s because they are truly the best at egg rolls, baos, and their broth. I normally go with my girlfriend and we typically get an order of beef bao’s, egg rolls, a Thai tea, and two small bowls of pho. I get the pho Dac Biet (Special House Pho with all the meats such as tripe, brisket, meatball, and rare steak) and she gets the rare steak with meatballs.
Ugh. So. Amazing. I feel torn that I love this place so dearly, because I always thought my mom had the best homemade broth, but something about their broth makes it so aromatic and delicious, that I dare say I prefer theirs over my own mothers. Their egg rolls are crispy and made in-house, and their bao’s are fluffy, well garnished, and has a perfect house sauce to pair with. I have nothing but amazing and glowing reviews for this place, and would highly recommend taking your friends and family here for the most authentic, best pho in Denver, by far....
