8 months ago I visited this salon and the stylist who did my daughter's hair did a FANTASTIC job and I was very pleased because she cornrowed my daughter's hair exactly as the picture that I provided her. Although, she gave me a hard time about me washing my daughter's hair before her appointment in the future to save time even though washing is included. Her hair was done neat and washed thoroughly. I also had my hair done here in the past and I was happy with the finished style that I requested. I will definitely come back in the future.

On Saturday May 7, 2022 I made an appointment over the phone with the receptionist to get feed-in cornrows. My appointment was set for Sunday the 8th but the receptionist failed to mention that with new stylists and new management that hair is not included in the style nor did she mention the price of the style that I requested. On the day of my appointment I was on time but had to wait 30 minutes to get my hair done. As I waited for the stylist to finish another customer's hair, which she was just getting started with a curl and style, that was when the stylist E, explained to me that hair is included upon the discretion of the stylist. Than she proceed to tell me after having waited almost an hour at this point that I had to supply my own hair for feed-in cornrows. Once I stepped out to purchase the hair at a nearby beauty supply store walking distance from the salon the stylist E, didn't tell me that the fee for my requested style would be $200, which was disappointing and unexpected. I was very dissatisfied and disappointed with the late information of pricing and my time being waisted having to wait 30 minutes only to be told that I needed to buy my own hair. I added photos separately so there is proof of my experience and truth to the fact. Hopefully people can see the photos. What I asked for vs what I got. When I showed the lady who was going to braid me what I wanted she told me the hair I had would not do. Walked me to the beauty supply store and bought the braids she recommended for $17. When she braided my left side I was looking away from the mirror. When she turned me around to work on my right that's when I noticed there were no braids in my hair! She was doing cornrows and adding braids to the ends! When I asked her why she wasn't adding hair she informed me that she didn't do that. I said, but I showed you 2 pictures to give you an idea of what I wanted and not once did you disclose you didn't braid without adding hair??? She told me that there was a miscommunication when I scheduled my appointment, besides her next appointment was at 3 and she was in a rush. I scheduled my appointment too, I also called before driving over and confirmed my appointment. Am I not important? To be charged $30 for a wash and blowdry. Forced to pay a $10 tip for this ugly hair because she had no change for my $40. Now I'm home, undoing my hair. Which is soaked in freeze gel, so I'll be jumping in the shower after this to wash away that...

I frequently would come to the mall and walk past American Hair Salon, wanting to find a stylist in the area I made an appointment and was referred to Janay which has been a joy. My first time scheduling an appointment with Janay I was immediately drawn to her professionalism and pleasant demeanor, I called and let her know I was coming from VA from work she was able to accommodate my schedule and fit me in with a later appointment.During my appointment I told her the style I wanted to to achieve and she delivered.I made a second appointment and wanted to do a trim, nervous because folks be scissor happy but I was satisfied with what was cut and even more that she took the time to explain the process of keeping my hair healthy and growing. I made my 3rd appointment so it is safe to say Janay is a keeper :). I would like to commend not only Janay but the other stylists and barbers ... from just watching as I am being serviced everyone is very professional, the shop is neat, and they all do a wonderful...
