Hilton Head Toys — Local services in Hilton Head Island

Do not shop here. Warning below. We have been coming to HHI for years and have always shopped here. Our son loved picking out a toy on vacation. We have always supported or tried to support small businesses. I spent 100 dollars here this week on toys and my mom bought a few things for my sons. One of the toys needed batteries and they did not come with the item, so we went to CVS and bought 20$ worth in batteries. When we finally found a screwdriver (don’t forget that on vacation apparently) to put the batteries in the toy did NOT WORK. We went back to the store to figure something out and the girl just smirked and said ‘yeah we can’t be sure you didn’t break it after you left the store so’. THEY DO NOT EXCHANGE OR RETURN ANYTHING EVEN IF IT IS BROKEN WHEN YOU BUY IT. In order for us to make sure it worked we would have had to bring our own batteries and screwdriver and I guess put it together in the store, which I’m guessing they probably would not have let us do. I also knew most of their items were over priced but they ARE WAY OVERPRICED. I looked up the same item and they are 11 and 13 dollars at Amazon and Walmart. 25.99 at this store. Again, I WANT TO SUPPORT small businesses but I highly recommend finding another small business to support. We will not be shopping here...

Very disappointing customer service....

People are encouraged to shop locally, and I try to do this as frequently as possible, even knowingly over paying the mark up at Boomerang. The typical experience with local shops is they will make it right when there is a problem... One of the reasons that Nordstrom's is so successful.

This toy shop is not that way.

My son bought the recommendation from the owner of the shop "#1 fidget Spinner ", one day & a few drops later the outside of the spinner cracked making the spinner imbalanced. Based on the fact that the owner recommended the brand, oddly I thought there would be the same backing if there was a problem with the product...

A shame really, because what a simple opportunity to really do the right thing for the customer who was trying to support the store.

Store is overpriced and employee seemed to have no training. At no fault to the employee, it took at least 10 minutes to check out. I almost didn’t get an item because it wouldn’t ring in then when it did it rang in way more than sticker price. I told the employee the price was wrong and she fixed it but seemed to have no training in how to work the system. Sad for a business to stick an employee with little training in a store that stays busy. As overpriced as the store is, company should put more training and effort...
