Super convenient ferry terminal—easy access for NJ Transit, PATH, and commuters
I love using the NY Waterway ferry from Hoboken—it’s not just a scenic ride, it’s shockingly efficient, especially given how seamlessly it connects with both NJ Transit and the PATH train at Hoboken Terminal.
The ferry runs every 20 minutes or so, even on weekends, and the trip to Midtown or Downtown Manhattan takes only 7–10 minutes—much faster than slogging through tunnel traffic . The terminal building is clean, well-organized, and staffed by helpful crew members who keep things moving ().
What makes this location especially great is the direct connection to HUB transportation right at the terminal. You can hop off the ferry and grab PATH trains (to WTC or 33rd St) or NJ Transit Rail services—all within a couple of minutes (). No running around, no bus transfers—it’s a breeze.
A few lines from locals echo the sentiment:
“The ferry comes every 20 mins…and was promptly on time. …It couldn’t be more simple.”
“The terminal…on par with NYC’s Grand Central Station.”
⸻
🚀 Highlights: • Speedy and reliable ferry: 7–10 min ride, frequently on time • Frequent service: ~20-minute intervals throughout the day • Excellent terminal experience: Clean station, clear queuing, helpful staff • Seamless transfers: Direct access to NJ Transit and PATH—no hassle connections
⸻
Bottom line: Whether you’re commuting or just heading to the city for a day, the Hoboken ferry terminal—with its integrated NY Waterway, NJ Transit, and PATH transit services—is easily one of the most convenient and pleasant gateway options from Jersey into Manhattan....
Read moreI don't even want to rate this one star; my experience today was heartbreaking. Me and a friend were standing on the upper deck of the ferry when we were suddenly subjected to a tirade of screaming by a smaller, more heavy-set grown male. What made it worse was that the screaming was directed solely at me, a young female, not the male who was with me.
I remained calm and composed, responding in a respectful manner, saying, "Hey, could you guys please sit down for safety precautions?" However, instead of a reasonable conversation, I was met with another round of intense screaming that lasted for a full 15 minutes. Throughout this ordeal, I never once raised my voice. I simply asked why the person couldn't approach this situation respectfully and questioned why they would speak to a female in such a degrading manner.
This entire experience was truly disgusting to endure. I understand that people can be unhappy with their own lives or jobs, but that should never justify treating a young human being, or any human being, with such utter disrespect. It's disheartening to realize that some individuals lack basic decency and compassion. No one deserves to be subjected to such verbal abuse, especially when they are trying to address a safety concern.
I sincerely hope that the ferry company takes incidents like this seriously and implements measures to ensure the safety and well-being of their passengers. No one should have to go through what I experienced today, and it is crucial that we strive for a society where people treat each other with kindness and respect, regardless of their own...
Read moreI downloaded the app and had no problems activating the ticket. It was my first time so I had to ask the ticket attendant which door to wait for the ferry, but it was a pleasant transaction. The terminal is large, has an indoor waiting area, and has clean bathrooms. I will definitely consider the ferry in my future trips to NYC. The ride was very fast and the boat was pretty empty for a random weekday afternoon. I imagine weekends are more crowded, but it is well worth it for a quick and...
