I don't even want to rate this one star; my experience today was heartbreaking. Me and a friend were standing on the upper deck of the ferry when we were suddenly subjected to a tirade of screaming by a smaller, more heavy-set grown male. What made it worse was that the screaming was directed solely at me, a young female, not the male who was with me.
I remained calm and composed, responding in a respectful manner, saying, "Hey, could you guys please sit down for safety precautions?" However, instead of a reasonable conversation, I was met with another round of intense screaming that lasted for a full 15 minutes. Throughout this ordeal, I never once raised my voice. I simply asked why the person couldn't approach this situation respectfully and questioned why they would speak to a female in such a degrading manner.
This entire experience was truly disgusting to endure. I understand that people can be unhappy with their own lives or jobs, but that should never justify treating a young human being, or any human being, with such utter disrespect. It's disheartening to realize that some individuals lack basic decency and compassion. No one deserves to be subjected to such verbal abuse, especially when they are trying to address a safety concern.
I sincerely hope that the ferry company takes incidents like this seriously and implements measures to ensure the safety and well-being of their passengers. No one should have to go through what I experienced today, and it is crucial that we strive for a society where people treat each other with kindness and respect, regardless of their own...
Read moreHoboken Terminal joins the trains, buses, ferry, path, and light rail with some quality nostalgic elements mixed and unrefined out of date technology.
Located just off the Hudson River and surrounded by bars on the Hoboken side and the business oriented Newport on the other, it is easy to locate, but not so easy to get to other than by public transportation. The closest parking lots are small, or far away and multi-level. Street parking is extremely congested, expensive, and doesn’t allow for long enough trips.
The terminal is mostly on the older side with an old clock tower that still works and lots of exposed iron, copper, and tile. The inside is generally clean considering it sees 50,000 commuters daily, while the outside is dirty and smells worse than most stations. The cooling and heating system doesn’t generally work, so you are in for an uncomfortable wait if you transportation is delayed. There is an extremely large public bathroom which seems excessive unless you travel during rush hour and see the turnover. Along the waiting room is the typical mix of fast food restaurants and convenience stores, including a bar, a liquor store, ATM, mini mart, and coffee shop. All of this is mixed with inconsistent awkward pieces of technology that are usually broken or don’t provide little value. The most recent addition is the large digital sign that openly tells you it isn’t as useful as the app.
The station is what it is and doesn’t need to be fixed. Considering that I am one of the 50k daily commuters, I will continue to use it daily, but it would be nice to make some improvements akin...
