I heard about CrossFit of course for years and honestly I was so intimidated to go since I thought I had to be ā€œfitā€ to go to CrossFit BUT for some this time I got over my fear and just went!

The main reason is one of my good friends invited me to an intro class at 10am on Sunday with coach Dan and Becki called WOD prep and I loved the class so much!!! And learned a lot how much I need to learn ;)

I came back the next day and jumped in classes throughout the week (which coach becki encouraged us to do)

I signed up for the ā€œ8 days for $8ā€ and I came every day!

Of course I was sore from not working out hard since I got pregnant and had a rough pregnancy but I am back and I’m so glad I have a safe space I can relax at and workout out hard.

This CrossFit is very technical so you will learn techniques correctly from all of the coaches and they will scale (modify) the workouts for you if you need any adjustments for anything (injuries, been off, etc). First week I felt so ā€œbehindā€ and lost but I stuck through it and I still have those days. I have learned to try to arrive early to start ā€œsetting upā€ so I feel I have time to think through my workout. They have an app you can see what your WOD will be that day! WOD is workout of the day hahahaha I didn’t know this ;)

I have been going for almost 3 weeks now and I’m pleased with my experiences and my how much my body is changing. I am stronger more than I have been even before working out before.

Thank you Bryant Powers (owner) for taking care of your coaches and members. All the coaches are awesome and on the same page. And music isn’t too loud 🤪 I am older so I need to hear the coaches to make in doing stuff correctly.

P.S. I love your drawings Bryant!!

So much to learn!! Can’t wait to go today! Plenty of parking too! And classes are offered throughout and open gym membership is available too.

I workout so I can be a stronger and...

I’ve dabbled in crossfit from time to time but I wouldn’t call myself a crossfitter. However, I was looking for a gym to join for about two weeks while visiting home.

First of all, their visitor price is very reasonable compared to other gyms or classes.

Their space is very large and every wall is decorated with lit wall art that matched the tone and feel of the gym.

The music was not always your typical angry music with cuss words in it. I really got pumped with the music choices!

They had choke (a lot of) gear and weights. So it was hard to ā€œnotā€ have the equipment you needed.

In regards to attendees, they have their regulars and then their visitors. They actually get a lot of visitors! Once, they had 12 on one day! I don't usually like full classes but I was able to get used to it. You need to be flexible and to be able to work with the space you have.

In regards to the trainers, overall, they were excellent. I was impressed with the ones who had to manage a large group of visitors. My only concern is if they are really able to support every individual during the workouts. Those moves can be really dangerous. Out of the 8 times I went, I got checked in by a trainer maybe about 3 times. They commented that ā€œI looked like I knew what I was doingā€. So I don’t know if it is best for those who are very new to crossfit.

Overall, my husband, friend, and I enjoyed it. Id return the next time I come back...

I dropped in here for a week while in town for work. I've been doing CrossFit over 12 years, have been a coach for over a decade, and even owned my own affiliate for a little over half a decade. I've also dropped into nearly 100 gyms all over the world in my time as a CrossFitter. I don't say any of this to boast, but instead to offer an insight into as to my perspective and expectations as a visitor. With that being said, CrossFit Oahu was exemplary.

Classes were well organized, on time, and professional, without feeling rigid. There was a fun and casual atmosphere, while still maintaining thorough and progressive warm-ups and skill instruction.

Despite large class sizes, a single coach was able to seamlessly integrate and maintain every athlete. This gym is obviously a well oiled machine to a discerning eye, while still casting the ambiance of a relaxed and welcoming vibe to those of any skill level.

Coach Malakai and Coach/Owner Bryant were both excellent in each class I experienced with them. They have a vast educational background and ample real world experience and it really shows.

I would give my highest recommendation to CrossFit Oahu, and I sincerely hope I'm able to return again upon future...

I started CrossFit in 2020 but always did modified or scaled versions of the WODs so I stayed stagnant for almost 3 years until I came to CrossFit Oahu. Each of the coaches spends a few minutes at the start of the class to really break down the technique and explains what to focus on so you can improve or prevent injuries. Through their explanations and demonstrations, I gained more confidence in rope climbing, squat snatches (now I'm able to go lower with greater depth), pull up (without using a band) and push ups (without pushing from my knees) all because the coaches paid attention to my form and offered a different variation so I can improve and get stronger over time. Not only do the coaches have respectable knowledge in CrossFit, but the community shows so much aloha! It truly feels like a family when you walk in and I'm so happy I joined!
