As a customer it's not a bad place to shop, they have almost everything crafting wise. Also depending on whose shift it is you get very helpful employees. However as an employee I have learned it is very hard to enjoy your job with the belittling and gossip that happens on behalf of management. It is very sink or swim when put into a department, there is no training except for on the cash register. I had a month in my department of hearing from management that they'd help me figure out how to run the department but it never happened. After months of no help, I had figured it out myself all while still being told I'm too slow and they could do it faster. After continuously being told how slow I was I even bought a watch to begin timing and documenting how long it took me to order and put my freight away amongst other tasks, I was well within the time limit management had set. When the General Manager made the rounds one day and asked how long things where taking me I pulled out my pocket notebook with times, dates and assignments, they seemed impressed, however my store manager was not. A month or so later I was moved from the department to the register full time and another employee was moved into a department position. Management in this particular store is also unprofessional in the sense of picking favorites, talking negatively about employees on the sales floor with other employees. For being a Christian company this Hutchinson store is very lacking, otherwise I could see myself here...
Read moreThe Hobby Lobby Supreme Court ruling, in full name Hobby Lobby Stores, Inc. v. Burwell, was a landmark decision by the United States Supreme Court that was announced on June 30, 2014. The ruling determined that closely held for-profit corporations could be exempt from a federal regulation requiring them to provide health insurance coverage for certain forms of birth control if the owners have religious objections to those forms of birth control.
The ruling was a significant victory for religious liberty advocates, who argued that the Affordable Care Act's contraceptive mandate violated the Religious Freedom Restoration Act (RFRA) of 1993. However, the ruling was also controversial, with some critics arguing that it would allow corporations to use their religious beliefs to discriminate against their employees.
The Hobby Lobby ruling has been the subject of much debate and legal analysis since it was handed down. It has also been cited in other cases involving religious liberty and...
Read moreBought a gingerbread snow globe that broke just a week later. I tried to exchange it for the exact same thing. The store had no more of that exact snow globe. Because I did not keep the receipt they gave me store credit, which is fine. But, the co-manager under-priced the globe and only agreed that he did so once I showed him one similar in size and decor(which was still smaller than the one I had brought in) Said he would "work with me" but then kept saying over and over again how disturbed he was that I had said I felt I was being ripped off (which I have every right to feel and every right to say so). Felt like I was being ripped off just because I did not have the receipt, treating me like I was lying or something. Left with the broken globe and a general disgust for the...
