I have had both good and bad experiences here. Generally, I find staff slightly more knowledgable than Lowes, when it comes to assigned departments. But this is almost directy tied to the employee's age. The older ones are who you want to ask questions of, especially if you are wanting to know where something is, or if it will work with your project. The younger ones will have to use there palm computers to locate the correct isle, then will go look there, just like I would be doing.
Recently, on 1.14.24, I went to get paint at Home Depot. I walked in and there were 4 employees a the customer service/return desk. All under the age of 30. There were three more hanging around the self checkout registers, talking. I located the paint I wanted and went to the paint counter. I waited for five minutes with no one coming there, or even passing by. I went to customer service and politely asked if I could have assitance. They paged someone to paint. I returned and waited 10 more minutes without anyone showing up. During that time, I heard an employee tried to page another one over the intercom three times, to no avail. I ended up leaving the paint on the counter, along with a note detailing my experience. This was also 7pm, and there were few people in the store. Most of the employees were younger, and seemed more interested in talking with each other. I was not pleased...
Read moreI’ve been shopping at Home Depot for a long time now. Lately I’ve been going to Lowe’s more and more for various reasons. I decided to order a few things for pickup from Home Depot so my wife and I could look at upright freezers. My complaint is that 2 workers (a younger guy and girl) were walking by and seemed to be on a mission. After passing, one of them turned around without stopping and asked “did you need something?” We replied with the generic “just looking” as they seemed busy and we were trying to entertain our 2 kids under 2. 10 minutes later I was chasing my 2 year old down a couple aisles away and awkwardly ran into the 2 of them sitting wedged between merchandise on the sides of the aisles flirting with one another. When we did have a question nobody was available to answer and a few other customers even complained to us about it.
This forced us to order online on 12/1. The estimated delivery date was today, 12/7. I connected with an associate this morning to find the date of delivery was 12/21! We needed this freezer sooner for breast milk storage and now we are at an inconvenience. Why would the estimated and actual date be so far apart. Looks like we will be using Lowe’s 100%...
Read moreExcellent above and beyond customer service! I bought a Samsung microwave from HD, they delivered it to my still-under-construction house, and a few weeks later I took it out of the box to install. The handle was broken, likely during shipping. It was loooong past the 48 hours they give you to report stuff broken or not working on arrival. I called HD anyway and pleaded my case, because I had not taken it out of the box until now. (Strangely the deliverymen had taken all the other appliances out of the boxes before bringing them in and it never occurred to me to insist on the same for the microwave.) A manager gave approval for an employee to just order the replacement handle for me and HD would pay for it. However, they were unable to find a place to order it, so they called Samsung for me and arranged a warranty service call for a Samsung repairman to come to my house and replace the handle! Wow! Blown away! Very happy with both Home Depot and Samsung for going above and beyond their policies when the circumstances warranted it.
In fact, I've bought 95% of the stuff for my home renovation at Home Depot and everyone has been consistently helpful...
