I'm disappointed with Bonafide Lock & Safe. I was happy to find an actual brick and mortar locksmith store but was underwhelmed with the services. I've been in three times: Mailbox keys were cut here but I noticed the size discrepancy that the new mailbox keys were taller but he said it should be ok. Yes, they work but I have to hit the back of the key to get the mailbox key to turn, much like a bump key. It doesn't feel right. I asked about a spare car key and was quoted $120. I bought my own transponder key on Amazon for $15 then showed up to have my transponder key cut. Yes, the car was unlocked and car power turns on but I struggled to turn the key because of the rough cut. So the car would not start because of the key's rough cut, blinking the antitheft light on dashboard. There's a few reasons why a transponder key wouldn't work -- the chip inside is compromised (unlikely, since it's new), the car's ignition slot is broken causing antitheft lights to go off (it wasn't since I drove with original key) or the key's cut was done subpar. Charged $11 on top of that, which is surprisingly high and ruined my transponder key. I also wanted my car key fobs programmed but was told that they don't have that equipment on hand. They do for another store that's in Totem Lake, nearly 15 to 20 minutes away. What locksmith store doesn't have programming equipment for a key fob? I'm resorting to buying one off Amazon. I'll have to get my new transponder key cut elsewhere.
The man at the front was nice. The mailbox keys do work but I'm disappointed about the remainder of my experience. I recommend coming here for mailbox keys since this service cannot be done in a hardware store...
Read moreMy lockbox was stolen and fortunately we noticed it. I called and explained what happened and needed to rekey the locks immediately. They fit me in same day after hours! They explained that I should change my deadbolt configuration but I didn’t get it…Then the very next week my office was broken into by breaking the window and reaching in and turning the deadbolt. Bonafide guys came out again within hours and changed out the dead bolt. They didn’t say, “I told you so!” But I did🤣 I told the service man thankyou so very much but I hope I won’t see you again. If I do, I will always...
Read moreI managed to lose both keys to my Thule roof cargo box. My wife recommended Bonafide, since they helped her a while ago. They were able to take the lock and cut keys to fit for me the next day. Worked great the first time! Paid $67 (with tax), which was less than the cost of getting two replacement locks. Friendly service and loves his craft. Thank you so much!
I think next time I'll get a key copied before losing...
