This was a great experience! We did a star gazing tour this February on an extremely cold night. With windchill, it was about negative 20 degrees F. Our guide Emily first called to make sure we were still okay with going out. We were and she was very accommodating. She made sure to provide mats for us to stand on, hand warmers, and also did a good job of coordinating time outside and time in the van so that we could stay warm. It was definitely cold, but we were really glad we went.
Emily was so knowledgeable about the stars, sky, and space in general. She did a great job pointing out interesting things in the sky and helping us learn to identify them on our own (we were able to successfully locate everything she taught us about later on our own). She also did a fantastic job of answering our (numerous) questions about space, even questions that weren’t specifically about the objects we could see in the sky. We learned so much and have a much greater appreciation for the universe now!
Emily also did a great job setting up the telescope so we could see things more clearly/things you can’t see with the naked eye, such as other galaxies. She also used a special laser to help point things...
Read moreWent on a guided Stargazing tour with Dr. Sam. He is a consummate professional. Warm, friendly, eloquently spoken, extraordinarily knowledgeable, enthusiastic, and extremely patient. Pickup from our lodge was prompt and the drive to the stargazing location was short. Ipads, blankets, chairs were all provided for us to use. We were shown a myriad of astronomical objects. Planets, galaxies, star clusters, nebulae, satellites and more were located and shown to us. Explanations about what we were looking at were detailed but simple enough that my parents, who were non native speakers, could understand. It was exhilarating to see objects we had only read about or seen in photos with our own eyes. Dr. Sam was very accommodating, realigning the telescope for us multiple times as we spent so long viewing some objects they would drift out of the field of view. I would highly recommend Wyoming Stargazing. It is one thing to go out and look up at the skies yourself and an entirely different experience to have someone so knowledgeable to guide us. The experience they provided was exceptional and unique and...
Read moreI believe their main page is Wyoming Stargazing Office for the bulk of reviews but I wanted to post my review here as well.
Wonderful company and even better tour - we took out a group of 5 adults and 3 kiddos - aged 10, 6 and 3 and everyone had an amazing time. Got very lucky with the weather and was able to see beyond the cosmos and of course Jupiter and the rings of Saturn (truly spectacular). We have done other star tours here in Jackson through the Four Seasons Hotel and this was just as good! They bring chairs and blankets and all the equipment of course for your tour. I would suggest bringing any snacks, food or drinks as that isn’t provided (most hotels can make you a to go picnic box).
Absolutely a must do while in Wyoming - the skies are beautiful, dark and full...
