(Read to the end) I took my 7 year old son to see Robin Sproule. He had a rash that was almost gone that had been there for almost 2 weeks. I had a picture I was able to show her at its worse. What really made me take action as a parent was the fact that his hair started falling out after he had the rash for a few days. I had been to a wonderful supportive allergist in Salt Lake City, Utah before seeing her. After he did an extensive blood work panel and allergy test, he suggested taking him to a dermatologist as well. Western Wyoming Dermatology was the first place I called. My son got in with Robin Sproule. I was so looking forward so some questions answered and the knowledge of what a dermatologist could do in diagnosing whatās going on.
I canāt take back the reaction my son witnessed after she left the office. She made me livid!!! I kept trying to ask questions. She just kept repeating herself going around my questions, interrupting me. Mind you he has some bald spots and as a dermatologist hardly even touched his hair or skin. All she wanted me to do was wait a WEEK before getting him checked again. Which technically she didnāt even suggest calling back there. So I donāt know where or what she exactly wanted me to do. Apparently go somewhere else because she didnāt mention a follow up. Even if that was our only option at the time to wait a week... it was a horrible bed side manner. No support in the fact that my sons hair is falling out by the handfuls! He has bald and thinning spots but she kept getting annoyed and almost upset that I was asking questions!!!! Isnāt that why we go to Drs?! Ask questions, sometimes even stupid ones, and get answers!!! I was heartbroken leaving there.
Thank God I was on a waiting list for another dermatologist from Ogden, UT. We went to her 2 days later. She was wonderful! The kind of experience I would expect from a Dr. She answered allllll, every single one of our questions! She even acknowledged my son asking him if he had any questions. She actually touched his head and found how much Hair was falling out. She was empathetic of the situation. We also left with a diagnosis of Alopecia Areata for his hair falling out, and viral exanthem for the rash. (That she diagnosed from the same picture.) She had a nurse taking notes on what his skin looked liked. She gave him a good look over. I share all of that information because thatās how it should have went with Robin Sproule. Even if she couldnāt come up with a diagnois, there should have been some empathy, and wanting to follow up with him if sheās suggesting it needed time for...
Ā Ā Ā Read moreMy question: is this practice's core principle to provide service or simply to generate a profit for the corporate umbrella? Example: After being instructed by email to fill out all forms online, which was also an unhappy and time consuming task, I was then handed a clipboard upon checkin with an apology that that system was not functional. When reported to headquarters "40 times" nothing was done about it. This is emblematic of a lack of care, concern and professionalism, which is also reflected in the tired appearance of the offices. The good staff seem to be taken advantage of by the head office in Florida from where they run about 150 clinics. A little digging revealed that this sorry situation is common with both unhappy patients and employees as well: from ChatGPT
"š Overall Reputation While some patients report positive experiences, the organization has received mixed reviews:
Yelp: Average rating of 2.7 out of 5 stars based on 1,652 reviews, indicating general dissatisfaction among customers. Yelp Glassdoor: Employee reviews average 2.6 out of 5 stars, with only 31% of employees recommending the company, citing issues like lack of appreciation and a challenging work environment. Indeed: Some employees describe the environment as stressful, with reports of poor management practices."
My advice: until they put patients, doctors and staff ahead of profit,...
Ā Ā Ā Read moreI got into a bar fight (bar = poorly placed towel bar in a bathroom) and walked away (embarrassed) with a pretty deep cut on my forehead. Being vain and anxious, of course my first thought was, āwill I have a scar that I have to explain the rest of my life?ā So I called this office and asked for advice. The attending nurse welcomed to come by and be seen by Dr Cobb, who evaluated my wound, covered it with those clear space-age looking sutures and explained how to minimize the appearance of the scar. When I got the front desk, I was simply told to have a great day. No paperwork, no insurance, no payment. This tells me many things about Dr Cobb, her team and the culture sheās built: sheās dedicated to her craft and cares about people, sheās generous with her time and expertise and knows when to charge, and her team are happy and care about people as much as she does. Iām a visiting New Yorker with dreams of relocating here, and now I have even more than the mountains and the wildlife as a draw: I have good values and a sense of community. Almost makes me glad I hit my head, and if there is a scar, I know what it...
