When I first looked at apartments here, I mentioned to the leasing person that I was looking for a quiet top floor unit with no one above me, and preferably no one on one side. After showing me a few available apartments, he mentioned a unit that was becoming available a week after my move out date from where I lived. It was a top floor unit with no one at one side; only a storage unit. I found it too good to be true that I even stayed at a hotel with my two cats for an entire week because I thought this would be a perfect quiet place for me to live in peace.
What the leasing person failed to mention to me, and honestly something I didn't think to ask, there are roof level mechanical rooms directly above the unit I was interested in.
After staying in a noisy hotel room for an entire week, I was finally excited to move into my new quiet home.
That excitement was short lived by two factors. The storage room next to me was being used as a staging area for maintenance with constant noise by building staff, all day every day. The second was the constant noise by workers in the mechanical rooms directly above me, and the noise of the machines themselves. Both issues stressed me out beyond words.
Management was nice enough to mostly control the noise from the storage room next door, and I appreciate that, and I appreciate them for being helpful and accommodating.
Unfortunately the noise from the mechanical room above me is a never-ending issue that has me constantly in an unhappy state of mind. The noise never seems to end and it starts in the morning and sometimes goes well into the night. Not to mention the weird noises of machinery also happening. Maybe they are one in the same, and I am mistaking one noise for another. But if that was the case, why does everything go quiet overnight and why do I hear objects dropping all the time? I think all of this is making me crazy and just miserable.
The people at the front desk are really nice and friendly and I appreciate them. Management is nice and helpful, and I appreciate them too. The maintenance people are also pretty cool and I appreciate them for cooling down the noise next door.
The reason for taking away two stars from my review is because I felt misled by the leasing team in not making me aware of the mechanical rooms above when I specifically asked for a top floor unit because I didn't want anyone above me making noise. The other is because of the constant noise from above. Whether it's from the machines, workers, or both, I hate it and feel like I live below a noisy inconsiderate neighbor.
There were so many great apartments that were not top floor that I passed up because I was adamant in having a top floor unit. For being in this predicament, I wish I had taken one of those other apartments instead.
Thank you...
Ā Ā Ā Read moreMy wife & I moved here from NY in late 2024. Our move-in experience overall went fairly well. The initial handoff with the concierge at the time (Walter B.) couldn't have gone better. He was kind, professional, and explained our next steps efficiently. We feel this way about all the concierges currently working here, by the way! Our unit on move-in day was up to our standards upon arrival and all our amenities (i.e. water, electricity, laundry) functioning. Within a couple weeks we were able to ultimately furnish our unit to our liking. We are now officially one year into our experience here and we are enjoying it very much. Maintenance has a great squad (perhaps the most underrated team here) and are very responsive to in-unit requests. For example, it was easy for us to have maintenance install a new shower head for us which we use to shower our puppy. Speaking of puppies, an aspect we especially appreciate about this particular residence is the dog/family-friendly atmosphere; a dynamic we hope continues to be maintained here. If anything, weād argue management is in fact doing their part in this.... for example, some outdoor furniture / patio enhancements added last summer reflect management's willingness to uphold these values. We hope they continue to adopt policies that establish healthy boundaries and expectations when it comes to pets just as well as family dynamics. Just as impact-fully, we believe the community of residents here make this place feel like home for us. The tenants here are generally supportive & respectful of each otherās space. While no building or entire population of people associated with it can be absolutely perfect, my wife & I truly believe we found the right place for us at this stage of our lives. We find that this location checks all of our boxes and we believe the different teams between leasing, management, and maintenance have the right people to make our overall experience feel more āhumanā and fulfilling. I would definitely recommend considering this location or one of its sister buildings (225 Grand, 485 Marin) in DTJC if the values Iāve highlighted are ones you...
Ā Ā Ā Read moreI'm not a resident here, so I'm not reviewing about the apartment here but the leasing office. I had the worst experience with the management company here. I booked the tour twice, and didnāt really look at the unit that I was expecting for. This is waste of everyoneās time⦠First time I booked a tour for 225 Grand, and I got informed to visit Park Ave office before we start our tour. The person who contact me had a day off without informing me, and she didnāt let her colleague knows we are coming for 225 Grand. We ended up having a tour for Park Ave, and the lady who showed us the apartment showed the attitude like we canāt afford this place. Very disrespectful and impolite. I tried to contact the same person again and told her that I really want to look at 225 Grand apartment, and she said sheāll get the permission from the resident who now lives in the unit. After all the confirmation, I went there the second time. She asked me to meet Matt, but ended up meeting another agent who has never come to this building before. He showed us a room that we didnāt request for. I showed him the email about the lady that I contact has confirmed to look at the room we requested for. He didnāt get notified AGAIN, but he said we should try knocking on the residentās door, and maybe we will be able to see it. The resident responded and kindly let us in, but they said they have never been informed by the management office that people are coming to look at their placeā¦! I feel really bad for them, and I can also imagine this situation would happen to me if I decided to live in any buildings that run by this management company. I would give no star if I can base on the...
