I recently did a session in the salt room at Saterra Minerals with Marina. It was one of those weeks, those weeks that never seem to end, where everything is just piling up. I knew I needed a moment of self care but my typical outlets (gym, shopping, mani/pedi, walk in nature) seemed unappealing. I had never been to a salt room before and was a bit skeptical but I figured I had nothing to lose. I signed up for one of her sessions and showed up. First of all, the salt room is at Marina's store where she sells crystals so I walked in and was surrounded by all of these beautiful, incredible crystals. (This was a fun little bonus to explore while I waited for the rest of the group to show up.) Marina greeted me with a warm smile; she had this natural calming energy to her. Once everyone arrived, she directed me to take off my shoes, led me into the salt room and I settled into a comfy recliner-type chair with a blanket and eye mask. There was this soft music playing, like those singing bowls or whatever they are called, that was really relaxing. Marina went around the room from person to person and would gently press on different spots (where I guess she could see we were holding tension - for me mostly my shoulders and forehead). All too quickly, the hour was up and the session was over. As I left Saterra Minerals, I had that slightly floaty feeling; I felt like the lights were a little brighter and the world was a little clearer. It was as if the rough edges had been smoothed out. Maybe it was taking an hour for self care, maybe it was the salt, maybe it was the good vibes of that whole place... all I know is that I have a new spot to go to whenever I need...
