Birdies — Local services in Kansas City

I've been going to Birdies for over ten years now, but I've just now started to gradually replace all my big box store undergarments with higher quality pieces. Every time I go in, the employees are incredibly helpful and KNOWLEGABLE about sizing for each person and each brand they carry. Yes, often the staff want to physically lay eyes on you when you try on, but this is to ensure proper fit. The employees and staff including Periguine are never pushy but are often excited to have people willing to try on their new pieces. They obviously want their customers to feel great in whatever they buy. The brands they carry are AMAZING and I don't even try to buy swimwear anywhere else (I have a smaller band size and over DD cups so it's difficult for me to find suits and bras that fit appropriately). Although they do not accept returns they will do exchanges or store credit. I don't think this is any different than any other small business return policy. This is one of my favorite stores in Kansas City and I frequently either take or encourage my friends to stop in if they can. Heck during my visit today, even my fiancé found some awesome socks he bought! Love, love, love the store, the staff, and the overwhelming body positive and all inclusive atmosphere. Keep on...

I really wanted to love this place, I was very excited based on the reviews, hoping for a wonderful experience. I tried to make an appointment earlier in the week, couldn't, I understood, Saturdays and Fridays are busy I was told. When we arrived yesterday - a Saturday - we were the only ones in the store. When I approached the person at the counter asking for form-fitting corset-like pieces, she lectured me about corset and related lingerie instead of showing me options that I later saw in the store... extremely unhelpful.. when I was trying to purchase an item and showed them my size, insisted on me telling them my size while I was with my friends.. I guess they needed me to share my number with my friends... Unfortunately, in an extremely overpriced store I expect great quality, above-and- beyond service.My expectations and the service I received didn't match. I won't...

Birdies is my happy-place! I will have the courage to admit that I struggled with an eating disorder and I fought for my life. Now, however, I can proudly say that I've conquered the mountain, but I still struggle with negative thoughts about my body. Going into Birdies gives me a sense of peace when I stand infront of the mirror. I feel like I learn a little bit more how to love my body each time that I go. Birdies is a place of acceptance.
