Restaurant Review: A Winning Experience at Taps on Main Taps on Main consistently delivers an exceptional dining experience, making it a standout choice for both casual meals and special events in Kansas City’s vibrant Crossroads Arts District. Recently, I had the pleasure of hosting our fantasy football draft at this establishment, and it exceeded all expectations. From the moment we arrived, the staff’s professionalism and warmth set the tone. They were attentive, accommodating, and genuinely invested in ensuring our group had a fantastic time. Their seamless coordination made the draft event run smoothly, creating a welcoming and festive atmosphere that kept everyone in high spirits. The team’s ability to anticipate our needs and handle requests with efficiency was truly commendable, aligning with reviews praising their fast and engaging service. The food, often an afterthought at event-focused venues, was a delightful surprise. Taps on Main offers a menu of upscale bar food, including their standout Buffalo-style wings, which are touted as the best in the city, and Mardi Gras-inspired dishes like hearty Jambalaya. Each dish was thoughtfully prepared, boasting fresh ingredients and bold flavors that elevated the experience. The quality and presentation rivaled that of higher-end establishments, making it clear that the kitchen takes pride in its craft. The pour-your-own-beer wall, featuring 40 taps, added a fun and interactive element, allowing our group to sample a wide variety of craft beers at our leisure. The ambiance strikes a perfect balance—lively yet comfortable, ideal for group gatherings or a night out. The space is clean, modern, and thoughtfully designed, with a charming outdoor patio that enhances the experience on pleasant evenings. The dozen televisions and vibrant atmosphere make it an ideal spot for sports fans, yet it remains welcoming for all. In summary, Taps on Main is a gem that consistently delivers on service, food, and atmosphere. Whether you’re planning a special event like our fantasy football draft or simply looking for a great meal, this restaurant is sure to impress. I highly recommend it and look forward to...
Read more100% of this 5 star rating is for the Tonawanda wings. These are some of the best wings I've had in a long time. It was explained to me that Tonawanda is the name of the city that buffalo wings were created and they follow the original recipe. We also tried the loaded potato boats (better known as potato skins) without the beer cheese to make them gluten free. They were tasty, but not as spectacular as the wings. My wife also had a burger on a gluten free bun. The manager did a good job of finding out answers about making sure items were safe for my wife to eat and what the gluten free buns were made of. The beer set up was fun to try. You get a card that you put on the display for the beer you want to pour. You are charged by the ounce and simply pour as much of the beer you want to try. This is great if you want to try a bunch of beers without drinking a ton, and some of the beers you may only want a sip of as well. As someone that enjoys trying different beers, this was quite fun, but felt a little like cheating if you were not suffering through an entire glass. You can tap the screen for more info about the beer. My suggestion would be to add the brewer's location to the info. Since my initial visit, I've been preaching about their wings. So much so that my friend wanted to give them a try and I was all to happy to go back. Unfortunately on my second visit, the wings were overcooked and very dry. Thankfully they had a number of new beers for me to try and help me get through my disappoint, but I did take a star off my rating. To spare my reputation, I since warned some of my fellow wing fanatics of my follow up experience. My friend that also got the wings wasn't impressed, so that reduced our chances of repeating...
Read moreThe place had a nice vibe and plenty of televisions. It is a seat yourself place so you have to kind of fight for a table on a Friday or Saturday night, so we sat at the bar to eat. Our bartender unfortunately was not the friendliest. He only asked me what I wanted to drink and just ignored my husband. We asked for a Dunkel but they didn't have it so we asked for a Space Camper and they didn't have that. We asked what they did have and he responded with "I don't know we change every day" and just left it at that. I wanted to order the sliders and there is an option for two or four. There are four different sliders like burgers, BBQ pork and chicken, but you can't order two of one flavor and two of another. You have to get all four the same. The most frustrating part was that fries don't come with any of the sandwiches. A sandwich like a Reuben was $15 which is the price most places charge but they let you have fries. My husband ordered a $16 chicken wrap and so we ordered a side of fries. The side of fries portion was laughable. I included a picture of the fries and wrap. Another bar tender came by after our guy went to the back for something and she saw my face and asked what the problem was. When I showed her the fries we got she chuckled and agreed that the portion size was entirely too small. She was kind enough to bring us more fries. They were at least tasty fries. Then my husband asked for a small side of ranch and was charged for that. This place seems to nickel and dime you and the portion sizes are sad. Places close by like Yard House and Johnny's Tavern offer much larger portions for the same price or even less actually. I would recommend going to other bar grills in the...
