This am Alexis/Alexa made me feel terrible for referencing an associate as a black person when describing the nice lady who originally helped me Friday who had made an error with my order. She immediately corrected me by saying, âyou mean African American.â Surprised i asked if the word black was offensive. She said yes, itâs African American. As my daughter is half black I texted daughter and asked if i was insensitive. She said no, she references herself as half black. I told Alexis/Alexa this and she said my daughter was wrong and it was just her opinion and that African American was correct and that she corrects anyone who uses the word black. She made me feel humiliated and angry. She was hostile and aggressive. I had driven 1 hour r.t. I spent 30 minutes in the store while error was rectified and she lectured me on the use of the word black. She asked my name no less than three times in a 20 minute period although she had my Chicos account up on her screen. At one point i told her i found her communication with me offensive and rude and she said nope. She was just educating me. I will never shop there again while she is there. I decided to use the restroom before doing our shopping, I was immediately dismissed and was told to âuse a public restroomâ. I told the retail worker that I was going to do some shopping afterwards âso, what seems to be the problem?â. The woman did not reply, just seemed annoyed and rolled her eyes.
