We received a parking fine of 50$ "Parking against traffic" during our 1-night stay in Key West. Since we are tourists and did not park in an illegal spot, the hotel owner advised to ask for some courtesy at the City Hall. The guy at the counter let us wait 20 minutes while he was finishing his 2 private phone calls and rejected us straight away like we were some criminals breaking the law intentionally and referred us to the City Court. Once we came back again from the City Court (a hearing could take place in a month at earliest), needless to say he was just about to cancel another parking fine for a local elderly lady. Asking again for some courtesy, he simply rejected us again with an unreasonable excuse. The parking experience in this city was overall horrific, the way they handle tourists is frustrating, they make one go away with the worst experience not even saying sorry for the inconveniences. From where I come from this is not the way guests or visitors are being treated for making...

The island is 4 miles long and 1 mile wide. It's located in Monroe County and also called The Conch Republic. Popular spots in Key West are Old Town, Mallory Square, Duval Street, Ernest Hemingway House, and Southernmost Point Buoy, to name a few.
Key West is one of my favorite places to visit. When I used to live in Florida, my husband and I used to take weekend staycations there all the time. The culture, the weather, the food, the island vibes, was what always drew us there. It's like vacationing on a tropical Caribbean island but it is in the U.S. The city is pedestrian friendly and has many things to do. Overall, a place everyone should visit at least once in...
Read moreI’m on a mission. Not just in the Keys but everywhere. I’m not trying to harsh anybody’s buzz. I drink alcohol, probably too much, and have no issues with legalized marijuana. My issue is with the stench. The greatest thing for free and healthy socializing was eliminating cigarette smoking in bars, restaurants and most outdoor settings. I don’t feel that anyone should be subjected to any type of odor or smell in any setting where it’s not appropriate, near a restaurant, someone’s barbecue or back porch, on a crowded beach, etc. Marijuana users need to use alternate means for getting their high. I have a friend who uses but has a type of pipe or system that there is absolutely no odor. I hope everyone will understand that not every body appreciates the smell and try to be considerate of...
