After moving here from California, Iâve been going here and another Vietnamese place on 280 near by. I was in search of the best Vietnamese restaurant. After comparing the two, I feel like pho place is the most authentic. I love their pho and other Vietnamese dishes are great. They even serve Chinese food which Iâve tried. Their Chinese food is actually one of the better ones than some other Chinese restaurants in Birmingham IMO.
I am always hesitant of trying new dishes and being disappointed. Because I have ordered at other Vietnamese places before in bhm and other Asian places. After some convincing advice from the waiter, I tried their pork chop and rice and it was great. The pork chop is thicker than the Vietnamese kind but the flavor was there. It came with the side soup and a Vietnamese steam egg and shredded pork. Today I tried their banh mi. Bread was soft and fresh with all the fixings in a banh mi should have. It was very yummy. Now Iâm not afraid to order anything here. You will not be disappointed.
I can say after living in Birmingham for two years, pho place is the best Vietnamese restaurant in town. It reminds me of back home (ca) and it doesnât disappoint. The only thing I wished was that they brought back the smoothies (I love avocado smoothies) and some of there dishes they had in the past I see in...
Read moreIâve been enjoying pho for most of my life and Iâve tried many places. In terms of food quality, this place has its ups and downs. Sometimes their pho is so fresh and hot that itâs in par with any good pho place anywhere. But other times, the basil leaves are wilted and the noodles are stuck together like a lump of glutinous ball. However, the real problem with this shop is the curly haired guy thatâs in charge of the hall. He has this weird attitude against customers that really makes you wonder why his boss keeps him around. Maybe the owners are his parents and they feel itâs better to give spending money to their son than paying out wages to a stranger. Whatever the case may be, I doubt the owners know how much damage the guy is inflicting on their business. He just doesnât want to be bothered to welcome customers or be nice. Heâs terse, curt, and impolite. If you read through other reviews about this shop, you will see that all of the negatives are about this guy. I recommend a competing pho place just a couple of miles up the street where the staff is always inviting and energetic. You may have to wait for a seat there because itâs usually very busy, but you will get a much better...
Read moreMy recent visit to the local pho place left me with mixed feelings, as the food quality was commendable, but certain aspects of the experience fell short.
Food Quality: The standout feature at this pho spot was undeniably the food. Both the pho and rice platter were delicious, showcasing authentic flavors and quality ingredients. The broth in the pho was rich and aromatic, and the rice platter was well-seasoned and satisfying. The culinary aspect of the experience was undoubtedly a highlight.
Pricing: However, the enjoyment of the meal was dampened by the steep prices. The overall cost of the dishes felt disproportionately high, especially considering comparable options in the area. While the quality was there, the value for money left much to be desired, making it difficult to justify frequent visits.
Service: The server's demeanor further contributed to the mixed experience. Their approach was noticeably cold, lacking the warmth and friendliness that can enhance the overall dining experience. This aspect of the service left me feeling somewhat disappointed, as a welcoming atmosphere is a key component of any successful dining...
