I had never heard of Gamblers General Store and since I live in the Midwest, my only info of them was their website and my conversation on the phone.
I was trying to reach out for a friend that enjoys their sports magazines. Unfortunately, my friend is in prison so it wasn't possible for him to call. He had sent them a check over a month ago but had not received his magazines.
I reached out over the phone following the prompts my friend gave me. Sadly, every option I selected disconnected me. After trying all the options, I finally reached Paul. Our call immediately started off on the wrong foot and by the time we disconnected, he was refusing to work with me.
I was shocked with how things transpired and proceeded to send an email to management. As I was writing the letter, all I could think about was how unfair this was for my friend.
After some real soul searching, I called back and spoke to Paul saying, just because you and I can't get along, doesn't mean my friend should suffer. And, this is where I feel the Gamblers General Store really shines. He could have easily hung up on me, but he not only agreed but went above and beyond to not only allow me to place the order with him, but promised me that if and when the check ever does arrive, he would send it back to my friend. He also emailed me the receipt and promised my friend would have his magazines in three to five days.
Well Paul not only kept his word, but his magazines arrived in his cell in just two days! So for the rest of that week my friend and his cell mate had a great time scouring those magazines. None of that would have been possible without Paul.
I'm not a gambler, I don't even buy those scratch things at the gas station, but my friend and many of those in jail enjoy fantasy football and I think that's what these magazines help with. From now on, every year, I'll be calling in to get my friend these magazines and I hope I get to talk to Paul each time. I was very leery about giving my credit card to some company I had never heard of, especially since my identity had been stolen in the past. Thier website needs a great deal of work so if you need anything, I strongly suggest you call. If you talk to Paul, tell him Kim...
Read moreI’m overall very impressed with this little store downtown. I came by to try to fill my personal chip set and it was way cooler than I expected! They had a nice variety of chips for me to shop thru and the staff was really friendly and personable. They were extremely helpful with putting my chip set together. They even offer a service to do custom chips in house……which I thought was pretty unique. They have the widest playing card selection I’ve ever seen and a really nice vintage room full of neat old vintage Vegas memorabilia and books. This definitely seems like the ultimate store for the gambler’s needs! Love it!...
Read moreGamblers General Store has everything a gambler needs! It's a great place for tourists as well, because they sell old card decks and dice that you can buy for an affordable price and bring as a souvenir from your favorite hotel.
They served breakfast here too. Tried it out, but the food was okay. Only reason I am taking off a star.
Otherwise, this is a great place to buy some gambling related stuff. For those trying to learn, they have a variety of different books about almost every casino game. Many are useful and teach you different approaches and techniques...
