"The Best Mother's Day Ever," – So my mom said

Mother Day was approaching, and I wanted to do something special for my mother and aunt. Unfortunately, I live on the East coast, and they live on the West, so that fact limited the option. I decided to look for a private chef, something I had never done before; however, the initial site I went to was too impersonal for me. I wanted to communicate with the person I may hire during my search.

I happened on Jon Stokes's site, and from the moment we talked, I knew he was the one to provide my mom and aunt with an experience neither of them would ever forget. We discussed options, menus, and alternative pricing for the kids that I knew would be there. This was not an option I was afforded when I was researching chef services on the private chef website. We were able to customize a menu to my mom and aunt's likes and even include the children without breaking the bank. And the result was Amazing!!!!! My aunt stated she got to be Oprah for the day, the children were even a fan, and my mom was overwhelmed by the experience.

Professionalism: From the moment Jon and his assistant stepped into my aunt and mom's home, he was of service. They didn't have to lift a finger. He brought all his cooking materials and prepared, cleaned, set the tables and serviced the food. Nothing was left undone. It was the ultimate dining experience. My mom and aunt will never forget.

Food: The food if my mom and aunt are to be believed was to steal for….lol cause they took turns stealing each other's leftovers after their magical dining experience had come to a close. There was nothing to critic; it was all delicious, well prepared, and professionally delivered.

I was nervous going into this agreement cause I was purchasing services from so far away and wasn't there to ensure they would be delivered as proposed, but Jon was a professional in every sense. Great communication, excellent preparation, and a naturally gifted chef. If I could, I would fly him to the east coast just for an opportunity to taste a meal as refined as my mom and aunt described. Not to leave the kids out, but they ate every bit and wanted to ensure that my aunt and mom thanked the friendly people that prepared their meal and ate all the leftover cookies when no one was looking.

Hiring Chef Jon for our family get-together was an absolute delight and made the event truly memorable. As a recent Doctoral graduate, I wanted to create a special experience, and after conducting thorough research and reading reviews, I decided to reach out to Chef Jon via email. From the very beginning, he was incredibly accommodating and responsive, displaying a high level of professionalism. Chef Jon provided us with an extensive menu that perfectly captured the essence of a Southern Champagne brunch. The variety of delectable items he prepared left us in awe. The Fried Chicken and Waffles were simply divine, with a perfect balance of crispy and tender textures. The Champagne Mimosa Pineapple, Orange Juice, and Cranberry Juice added a refreshing touch to the brunch, enhancing the overall experience. One of the standout items from the menu was the Southern Biscuits with Honey Butter. They were flaky, buttery, and melt-in-your-mouth delicious. The assorted diced Tropical Fruit Platter with Fresh Berries was not only visually appealing but also bursting with sweet and tangy flavors. The addition of Crispy Bacon, Turkey Bacon, and Chicken Sausages provided a savory and satisfying element to the meal. Chef Jon's Cajun Shrimp and Creamy Grits showcased his mastery of flavors. The shrimp were perfectly seasoned with a delightful Cajun kick, and the creamy grits provided a comforting and hearty complement. The Scrambled Eggs with Cheddar Cheese were fluffy and cheesy, elevating a classic breakfast dish. Furthermore, the Breakfast Potatoes with Sauteed Peppers and Onions were expertly cooked and brought a delightful combination of flavors to the table. As a grand finale, the Red Velvet Cake with Cream Cheese Frosting was a decadent and luscious dessert that left us wanting more. Chef Jon truly exceeded our expectations with his attention to detail and culinary expertise. Every dish was prepared with precision and passion, showcasing his commitment to providing an exceptional dining experience. He not only delivered outstanding flavors but also ensured that every aspect of the brunch was tailored to our needs and preferences. I cannot recommend Chef Jon highly enough. I messaged (via website) Chef Jon at the very very very last minute in September 2022 hoping he had availability to cook for my husband and I in our home in celebration of my husband's birthday. He emailed and called me right away. I got to speak to him, and he was super lovely via telephone, confirming he had availability and explaining his cooking/prep process. He emailed me details that same day, I made the food selections, and paid his deposit immediately. This was a Wednesday. He came to cook for us on Friday of that same week. Very Last Minute!

He arrived promptly on Friday 1.5 hour before the time we wanted to eat dinner. He came super prepared, and I left him alone in the kitchen downstairs while I got ready to have dinner. I will say, our home smelled sooooo good almost immediately after Chef Jon began cooking. We were upstairs and excited to eat!

At dinner time, my husband and I came to the kitchen, cracked open a bottle of wine, and Chef Jon told us to sit at the table in an area he had set beautifully and he served us a DELICIOUS 4-course meal that consisted of:

1. Warm Lobster Mac and Cheese with Talleggio Cheese

2. Campari Tomato Salad / Fresh Mozzarella / Balsamic Vinaigrette / Micro Basil

3. Duo of Boneless Beef Short Ribs / Crispy Alaskan Salmon / Bourbon Glaze / Basil Beurre Blanc / Buttermilk Yukon Mash Potato / Portabella Mushroom and Pearl Onion / Roasted Brussel Sprouts

4. New York Style Cheesecake / Fresh Berries / Whipped Cream / Wafer

ALL OF THE FOOD WAS DELICIOUS AND PRESENTED BEAUTIFULLY. We were so satisfied.

Chef Jon was such a pleasure to have in our home. While he served each course, he described the food contents, and provided wonderful conversation. He also cleaned up after feeding and serving us.
